Director of Business Development - Cultured Ingredients
Biotech is rapidly expanding into new markets including cosmetics, flavors & fragrance, sweeteners, nutrition, and more.
Ginkgo Bioworks, the Organism Company, provides the technology that is leading this transition. We design yeast to make new cultured ingredients in partnership with our customers. Here is our recently announced cultured rose fragrance:
As part of our business development team, you will be introducing our technology to new companies every day. You will be speaking at industry conferences and bridging the gap between customer needs and the potential of biotech.
You don't need to be an expert in biotech but you are excited about the opportunity to bring the novelty of biotechnology into new markets. You have a strong background and good relationships in cosmetics, nutritional ingredients, flavor and fragrance, or sweeteners (or you are excited to hustle and build those relationships). You are excited by the chance to build an important technology company that brings biotech to consumers in a new way.
If this describes you well and you feel up to the challenge, please apply!

We also feel it’s important to point out the obvious here – there’s a serious lack of diversity in our industry and it needs to change. Our goal is to help drive that change. We hope to continue to build a company whose culture promotes inclusion and embraces how rewarding it is to work with engineers from all walks of life. Making biology easier to engineer is a tough nut to crack - we can’t afford to leave any talent untapped.
It is the policy of Ginkgo Bioworks to provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and employment applicants.
