Role Summary
We are seeking a full-time Manager, Seasonal Recruitment to grow the network of educators who bring GWC curricula to our summer programs. The Manager will oversee all hiring of summer programs staff and establish ongoing partnerships to maintain a strong pipeline of educators. This person will be responsible for developing strategic plans to recruit teaching team members who are reflective of our diverse community of students. They will collaborate with the Curriculum and Instruction team to ensure we find high-quality, dedicated computer science teachers who are aligned with GWC’s values to continue growing our community of educators, teaching assistants, advisors, and instruction coaches. 

This position affords a rewarding opportunity to have a tangible and direct impact on our students’ experience and to help us achieve our northstar goal of achieving gender parity in computer science by 2030.

This is a full-time position that is based in New York City. A regular hybrid work schedule, requiring 2 in-office days per week, is currently in place. Subject to change. We are not considering remote applicants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop an innovative and scalable strategic plan to hire ~300 seasonal summer staff representative of our diverse student community
    • Identify and pursue high-potential opportunities for increasing the GWC educator pipeline, including speaking engagements, networking events, university partnerships, and online promotion
    • Collaborate with the Curriculum & Instruction team to co-construct the interviewing methods, format, and metrics to effectively assess and measure each candidate’s potential and their alignment with the role requirements and Girls Who Code’s educational philosophy
    • Work with our Community Partnerships team to leverage relationships with organizations that can contribute to the growth and quality of the GWC seasonal staff talent pipeline
    • Develop creative ways to build community among current teaching staff and the larger CS Education community, including strategic partnerships, events, and networking opportunities
    • Hire, train, and manage a part-time staff responsible for conducting the interview processes for all seasonal roles
    • Track and report key metrics designed to measure staffing activity
    • Maintain a deep understanding of qualities that will make teaching team members successful in our summer programs 

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 4+ years experience planning and managing large-scale recruitment initiatives online and in person to build a robust talent pipeline which may include experience in the nonprofit space, corporate industry, retail, or student recruitment in the education sector.     • Experience creating and managing high-quality, scalable recruitment strategies
    • Ability to develop and implement interviewing and onboarding methods to effectively assess candidates’ potential and alignment with the role requirements
    • Experience with talent acquisition best practices in candidate experience
    • Strong organizational and project management skills, including tracking timelines, clear communication with multiple stakeholders, and detailed documentation 
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to balance priorities, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external partners
    • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration with a willingness to pitch-in, problem solve, and identify areas of improvement across the organization
    • Demonstrate comfort with adjusting work to accommodate evolving priorities in a dynamic work environment 
    • Be comfortable working and collaborating with in-person and remote team members
    • Knowledge of computer science education space, strongly preferred
    • Experience with an applicant tracking system (we use Lever)
    • Experience using Salesforce would be an asset
    • Previous experience working for a nonprofit or education space preferred
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
    • Believe that all girls can code, and be excited to work to close the gender gap in tech
