Girls Who Code is an international non-profit organization dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology. Our organization does more than teach girls to code; we’re building a global movement to change culture and challenge systems that have kept girls out of technology. Nearly ten years in, Girls Who Code is a major voice in the fight for gender equality and a thought leader in creating a more fair and equitable society and economy.

We are looking for a Graphic Designer to join our Marketing & Communications team working ~20 hours per week,  and help us grow our brand awareness and recognition more broadly. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the graphic designer will design and steward the marketing materials and merchandise for our programs and marketing campaigns; and website;  reaching a diverse group of constituents -- from students and families to community organizations and partners.

You have a track-record of designing beautiful and impactful marketing materials, from merchandise to posters to social media tiles. You’re a strong project manager, paying attention to detail and always meeting a deadline. You have a keen visual eye and are always looking for the best shot for Instagram or the most persuasive design for a website. You’re also passionate about our mission for closing the gender gap in technology and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

    • Design and optimize the core visual identity for Girls Who Code programs, and ensure consistency across marketing platforms and materials
    • Create sales and marketing materials to support recruitment and conversion for each program, including collateral, emails, flyers, videos, landing pages, social tiles, and swag
    • Collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams

Qualifications:

    • 2-3 years in graphic design role 
    • Extensive experience with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and other design software
    • Experience working with website templates and blogging tools such as Medium
    • Strong project management skills and ability to work independently 
    • Expertise in translating complex ideas into easy-to-understand designs
    • An entrepreneurial mindset. Thrives in a dynamic environment with changing requirements 
    • Ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism 
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • Passion for our mission to close the gender gap in technology fields through a dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion
    • Note: strong preference for candidates working in the Eastern time zone

The pay range for this role is $25.48 to $35.09 per hour.
