GiveCampus is the world's leading fundraising and engagement platform for non-profit educational institutions. Trusted by 1,000+ colleges, universities, and K-12 schools, our mission is to help advance the quality, the affordability, and the accessibility of education. We received a seed investment from Y Combinator in 2015 and have pursued a strategy of "Sustainable Growth" ever since: six consecutive years of profitability and positive cash-flow have empowered us to stay laser-focused on the value we deliver to our customers and to directly actualize the change we wish to see in the world.

Through The GiveCampus Social Mobility Initiative, we've donated $1 million in free fundraising support for programs that help low-income students, first-generation students, and underrepresented minorities. And in 2022, we were named to Y Combinator's Top Companies list and the Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest-growing private companies.

While we operate at meaningful scale (we've facilitated more than $2 billion in charitable giving), we’re still small relative to the commercial and social good opportunities in front of us. Every GiveCampus employee has a substantial impact on our trajectory, and we're growing to help schools achieve even greater results.

Our purpose-driven team of 70+ is located across the US: team members work from anywhere they choose. We have a beautiful 12,000sf office in Washington, DC that is available for people to use whenever they want, and we regularly organize team meet-ups, events, and retreats in various locations. We're looking to expand our team with diverse and collaborative doers who believe in our mission and the transformative power of affordable, high-quality education.

GiveCampus is looking for a driven, talented, and experienced Product Data Scientist to play a critical role as we work to connect the dots between our business, our products, and our users. This individual will be a core member of our Product team, working cross-functionally to surface insights and make recommendations that will shape everything from day-to-day product decisions to broader company strategy. They will report to the Director of Product and work in close partnership with Engineering, Marketing, Partner Operations, Partner Success, and Business Development.

Successful Outcomes

    • Impact: Define, execute, and package findings from analyses and models that drive thought leadership, inform product decisions, and support more effective use of our platform
    • Foundations: Create and automate product reporting across the business to support decision making. Build dashboards to enable real-time visibility into partner and product performance and to support ongoing optimization
    • Implementation: Define and implement a rigorous and scalable A/B testing process that enables product teams to launch tests quickly and iterate based on data
    • Expertise: Be the go-to company expert on all things data, including extracting / collecting, cleaning, wrangling, analyzing, insights generation, storytelling, data strategy, and predictive modeling
    • User Success: Be an empathetic advocate for our partner schools, end users, and internal team members

Ideal Experience

    • Leadership: Led high stakes, end-to-end analytical projects in a consulting, high growth, or high performing environment that had concrete, measurable business impact
    • Experience: 4+ years of experience in data science, data analytics, business analytics, business intelligence, or related experience where medium to large sets of data were used to drive successful business outcomes
    • Technical: Strong SQL fluency; experience with programming languages (Python or R) and data visualization tools
    • Analytics: Strong grasp of and experience with statistical methodology, predictive modeling, multivariate analysis, experimental design, and data mining; experience translating data into insights, narratives, and actionable recommendations
    • Product: Direct experience using behavioral data to understand and tell the story of how users are interacting with a product or service, and then to inform product and business decisions

Cultural Characteristics

    • Dynamic, emerging leader who is better at listening than speaking
    • Thrives in ambiguity, creates order in chaos, and consistently thinks two steps ahead
    • Comfortable making recommendations with limited data, while recognizing when more robust analyses are required
    • Hands-on builder excited to think critically about problems, go deep into the data, propose actionable solutions
    • Strong collaborator who will naturally work cross-functionally but is also comfortable operating independently
    • Intensely curious, as interested in what the data says as the technology and user psychology behind it
    • Passionate about advancing the quality, affordability, and accessibility of education
    • Radical empathy for end users
