Technical Writer:
The Technical Writer is an essential member of our care team, tasked with creating and finalizing letters of medical necessity for home care and durable medical equipment. This role includes managing a caseload, providing necessary training, ensuring compliance, and working with healthcare providers to deliver high-quality home care services. The Technical Writer also represents our company and advocates for patients during their onboarding and recertification paperwork processes, ensuring all documentation sent for home care services meets DOL standards.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and processing of patient assessments and care plans.
- Collaborate with patients and healthcare providers to manage medical documentation for home care renewals every year.
- Coordinate with providers to secure approval for appropriate durable medical equipment (DME) for patients.
- Provide necessary training to patients, home health aides, and nurses as required.
- Collaborate and manage a caseload of 150-200 patients as part of a team.
- Step in for other care team roles occasionally.
- Write and renew paperwork for initial home care and the renewal of homecare benefits.
- Report and document incident reports.
- Complete accurate and timely Case Management charting.
- Cover appointments for team members as needed to recertify benefits.
- Travel up to 5% of the time when needed.

- Builds and maintains positive relationships with patients and healthcare providers.
- Communicates clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Expert in using Outlook, Word, Excel, and other MS Office tools.
- Capable of working independently without close supervision.
- Actively participates in a team environment.
- Strong Reading, Writing, and Computer Skills: Proficient in reading, writing, and using various technological programs.
- Quickly learns new technological programs and adapts to organizational changes.
- Assists with managing a substantial patient caseload efficiently.
- Demonstrates loyalty and dedication to serving humanity.
- A valid Driver’s License and Dependable Transportation is required for patient visits and doctor appointments.
- Ability to Read Medical Records preferred but not required.
- Mandatory Background Check is required and must pass a background check conducted by the Department of Health.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical skills required to analyze and interpret medical records and documentation.
- Detail-Oriented to ensure accuracy in all tasks and documentation; strong in attention to detail.
- Skilled in using relevant case management software and documentation tools.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with patients, healthcare providers, and team members with professionalism.
- Strong communication skills required to communicate effectively in various situations.
