Glide FYCC Preschool, nestled within the Janice Mirikitani Family, Youth and Childcare Center (FYCC), invites passionate and dedicated individuals to apply for the position of Preschool Teacher. Since its inception in 1999, FYCC has been at the forefront of providing comprehensive support to children from low-income households. Our mission is to create a nurturing and culturally diverse environment where every child can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

As a Preschool Teacher at Glide FYCC Preschool, you will be an integral part of our team, supporting the daily operations of our program. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the health and safety of our participants, designing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities, and fostering an inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity.

Preschool teachers are supported in their professional growth through paid trainings and coursework provided by Glide.

Responsibilities

    • Facilitate child-centered learning experiences to promote individual development while upholding safety protocols and cleanliness standards in classroom and facility settings.
    • Establish collaborative relationships with parents/guardians to encourage their active participation in center activities and events, while assisting the Lead Teacher in documentation and reporting duties.
    • Ensure adherence to educational and regulatory guidelines set by the Dept. of Education and California Department of Social Services, conducting developmental assessments and parent conferences as required.
    • Provide attentive care to children's daily needs and interactions, overseeing meal service and hygiene routines in accordance with childcare food program requirements.
    • Monitor children's health and implement appropriate health and safety measures for illness and communicable disease prevention, while supervising Teacher's Assistants, volunteers, and interns in the Lead Teacher's absence.

Qualifications

    • Possession of a California Department of Education Teacher’s permit or Associate Teachers’ permit with eligibility for renewal and/or permit upgrade.
    • High School Diploma/GED.
    • Completion of 24 units of Early Childhood Education, including Core ECE units.
    • Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience with targeted age groups (internships and work/study programs are accepted)
    • Ability to engage and relate to preschoolers/toddlers in age-appropriate and culturally sensitive manners.
    • Proficiency in a second language is advantageous.
    • Excellent verbal communication skills essential for interaction with diverse program participants and staff.
    • Strong writing skills required for developing lesson plans, documentation, and reports.
    • Basic mathematical proficiency, including operations and percentages, necessary.
    • Minimum age requirement of 18 years.
    • Successful completion of Department of Justice Fingerprint screening.
    • Clearance of tuberculosis screening.
    • Proof of pertussis, influenza, Tdap, COVID, and measles immunizations mandatory.
$25 - $29 an hour
