We are seeking a Systems Administrator to join the Information Technology team. to manage and maintain GSG’s cloud-based infrastructure. This role will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our cloud environment while supporting employees, vendors, and clients in a secure digital workspace.
This is a new role that will report to the Vice President, Technology and work closely with the outsourced service desk, and internal office services team. The ideal candidate has a passion for technology and building and maintaining a high-availability network for a leading research firm. The candidate must be a self-starter, analytical, detail oriented, and an excellent communicator. The candidate should also have broad system administration experience, which should include multiple SaaS platforms.
Responsibilities
- Administer, manage, and maintain the following Microsoft Technologies
- o Entra ID – users and groups; licensing
- o Azure – resource monitoring; basic administration
- o Exchange Online – account management; message delivery management
- o Microsoft Security Suite – Defender; policies; Alert and Incident response
- o Intune – policies; endpoint management
- o Autopilot – applications; enrollment; endpoint deployment
- o Box administration
- Administer, manage and maintain the following additional technologies.
- o Okta administration
- o Slack administration
- o Cisco Meraki administration
- o Zoom administration
- Act as escalation resource for the service desk
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new IT systems and software
- Liaise and act as a point of contact with outside vendors and contractors
- Contribute to other areas related to IT as identified
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a systems administrator, senior service desk or related role
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, and Autopilot
- Advanced problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
- Knowledge of IT service management principles and tools (ITIL)
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Familiarity with remote desktop support tools
- Experience with ticketing systems and IT asset management
- Strong working knowledge of the complete Microsoft 365 tool set
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Graph and PowerShell
- Working knowledge of cyber security best practices
- Working knowledge of computer networking principles such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
- Infrastructure management skills including firewall administration, basic switching and routing, and wireless network administration (preferred)
- Ability to lead with empathy
- Occasional travel to the Washington DC office may be required
- Excellent attention to detail, as well as strong organizational and project management skills
- Team player with the ability to collaborate and maintain strong working relationships
- Strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently
- Proactive and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Microsoft 365 Fundamentals and/ or Azure Fundamentals/Azure Administrator certifications a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
The base salary for this position is between $90,000 to $110,000 commensurate with experience, plus eligibility for a discretionary bonus.
