What does it mean to be a Compliance Specialist I at GLS?
The Compliance Specialist l will provide support related to the Company’s compliance programs, including Compliance Automated Monitoring, Compliance Training, Policy and Procedure Management, Remediation Tracking and Analysis, and Compliance Consulting.
How will you drive value within the organization as a Compliance Specialist I?
- Administer quarterly role-based Compliance training to Company associates, track completion results, and report results to management as appropriate
- Review the Company’s established Compliance Automated Monitoring reports, escalate exceptions to appropriate stakeholders, and report results of monitoring to appropriate internal stakeholders on an established cadence
- Assist in implementing new Compliance Automated Monitoring and the development of existing monitoring reports
- Maintain Corporate Compliance Policy review logs, support completion of annual reviews, and track changes to policies
- Administer the Company’s Compliance Change/Remediation Tracking system; Coordinate and document compliance remediation efforts for assigned business unit(s)
- Provide compliance support to leadership as well as internal stakeholders; support the Director in developing and administering the Compliance Consulting Analysis function
- Build and maintain appropriate portions of the Applicability Matrix
What should you already know to be successful as a Compliance Specialist I?
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the financial industry preferred
- Unimpeachable ethics and integrity, as well as independent judgment required
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including regulators, internal management, and internal stakeholders
- Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness
- Excellent interpersonal skills: friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the business
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Team player that can adapt in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of internet and standard business applications such as Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn new computer applications as required

- Significant portions of daily assignments involve application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity
- Remain in a stationary position up to 100% of the workday

- Job functions involve sedentary to light physical effort. Physical demands range from sitting, walking, standing, or pushing or pulling materials. Work may involve exerting up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
- Be able to perform activities such as: viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, bending, and kneeling
Schedule:
- This position is full-time
- This is an exempt level position whereby business need will dictate the exact work schedule which should be expected to vary at times. Generally, the days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm.
- Must be flexible to work departmental operating days and times which include Monday through Saturday, 8:00am-8:00pm
- Regular, predictable attendance is required, including in excess of 40 hours per week as business demands dictate
- Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
