What does it mean to be in Information Technology at GLS?
There are many different facets of the Information Technology group at Global Lending Services. In Application Development, we develop cutting edge software - from building integration microservices and productivity tools, to real-time credit engines, web services, and end-user applications. As a member of our Application Development team, you will work on projects that will allow to you to build automation and interfaces that make GLS a world-class company. In our Data Warehouse group, as a Business Intelligence developer, you will empower our business leaders to make the best decisions to manage the company and invest in our future by finding ways to improve our insight into data and generate better customer outcomes. In our Infrastructure group, as a cloud-native company we need people passionate about technology infrastructure, architecture, cyber security, and DevOps. We want you to help us build work class services at scale.
The day-to-day activities will vary based on the group but could include the following:
Application Development
- Execute the full software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Develop server-side code for high-volume web-based applications; use (Javascript, HTML, CSS, etc.. ) to create and develop web user interfaces
- Use object-oriented programming languages (Python, C#, Java, etc.) to create robust, scalable, automation solutions to save time and resources and/or increase profitability
- Interpret data, and analyze results using structured query language (SQL); modify XML data using XPATH,XSLT; share data between services using JSON
- Document tasks, applications, and systems; participate in peer code reviews; develop and execute test plans; perform load-testing; implement changes; do feature validations
- Continue education to stay up to date on emerging technologies and best practices; identify ideas to improve system performance and availability
- Develop performance monitoring tools, troubleshoot, and debug existing systems; work with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis
Business Intelligence / Data Warehouse
- Design, build, enhance, and maintain PowerBI and SSRS reports and dashboards working from specification documents and/or direct interaction with business usersSSRS and PowerBIDesign, build, enhance, and maintain
- Write SQL Server queries and stored procedures to populate reporting datasets
- Decipher existing reports and database processes to assist users, Systems Analysts, and Data Stewards in understanding reports
- Foster a collaborative culture that facilitates the achievement of business plan objectives by working closely with other associates and members of management
- Participate in special projects as needed
- Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management
IT Security
- Ensure the security of enterprise systems by anticipating and mitigating attacks
- Evaluates processes and procedures to provide recommendations on how to reduce the risk of information security breaches
- Maintain information security processes and solutions
- Support the onboarding of new IT Security professionals by providing knowledge share and training as needed
- Research and advocate for new security products that support enterprise security requirements
- Review security infrastructure for capacity, growth, and high availability planning
- Reviews information security threats and vulnerabilities to assess business risk, impact, and exposure
- Communicate security incidents and risks to IT and business staff
- Directly support and provide guidance for security related issues
- Monitors threat intelligence services to keep current on emerging security threats and concerns
- Participate in special projects as needed
- Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management
Infrastructure
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
- Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability to meet service level agreements with vendor partners
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues
- Monitor the performance level of servers, software, and hardware to meet company expectations for operational efficiency
- Manage back-up solutions for infrastructure, data centers, and cloud operations
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools
- Build, decommission, and set-up servers, cloud devices, and network infrastructure
- Act as a liaison for DevOps implementations into the production environment
- Administer Office 365 and Exchange Online including:
- Licensing, mail flow, and mailbox compliance
- Manage (ProofPoint) spam protection, data loss prevention, phishing, and email encryption
- Active Directory and Azure Active Directory Management including set-up of users, setting permissions, security groups
- Participate in special projects as needed
- Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management
What should you already have to be successful in this role?
- External candidates require a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Computer, Information Technology, or a related field
- Proficient computer skills and ability to quickly learn new computer applications as required. Working knowledge of SQL and/or Python preferred
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills while presenting ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
- Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness
- Exceptional interpersonal skills: friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the business
