The Glympse Bio data science and engineering team works alongside the research and product development teams to collaboratively develop biosensors to diagnose and monitor disease. We are looking for a driven bioinformatician, computational biologist or biomedical engineer with expertise in analysis of high-throughput protein or sequencing data and interest in assay design and validation. The individual should have experience building robust bioinformatics pipelines to support assay characterization, optimization, and high throughput. 

The ideal candidate will be a highly collaborative individual, able to work at the intersection of the data science and product development teams to translate our understanding of Glympse Bio’s innovative biosensors into clear and defined computational methodologies. The candidate will evaluate assay quality, performance feature improvements, and develop computational standard processes that could be leveraged in a CLIA environment. This essential team member will share our focus on operational excellence and deep scientific rigor to transform the diagnostic paradigm of chronic diseases.


    • Lead design and implementation of robust pipelines for the analysis of high throughput protein datasets, especially high-throughput fluorescence assays for activity-based diagnostics.
    • Develop computational methods and algorithms to characterize and optimize individual components of activity-based assays: peptide biosensors, sample type and reaction conditions among others.
    • Partner with product developers to define and optimize assay characteristics. Contribute to design, execution, and analysis of analytical performance and validation studies, in collaboration with product development and chemistry teams.
    • Partner with other data scientists and automation engineers to define specifications for workflows to be incorporated into LIMS.
    • Present results to both data scientist and non-data scientist colleagues, including Glympse leadership.
    • Actively contribute to the iterative process of assay improvement, by revising and optimizing computational methods to support Glympse assays.
    • Evaluate and extend internal and public computational tools, including assessment and improvement of computational efficiency and scientific performance.

Technical Qualifications

    • BS or MS and 7+ years or Ph.D. in bioinformatics, biomedical engineering, biotechnology or related discipline and 3+ years’ experience in biotech / pharma industry setting in assay development
    • Demonstrated experience with Python programming language. Experience with additional programing languages is valued (Java, JavaScript, C++)
    • Experience with at least one statistical language such as R and at least one database language (e.g., SQL) preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to write high-quality code both independently and as part of a team under version control
    • Experience establishing efficient, reproducible pipelines for the analysis of high-throughput assays strongly preferred; familiarity with workflow systems (e.g., SnakeMake, NextFlow, Cromwell) valued
    • Familiarity with cloud systems (e.g., AWS) and related data architectures
    • Experience with software development in biotechnology industry and/or distributed computing strongly preferred
    • Experience optimizing high throughput protein assays such as protein microarrays or fluorescence-based assays
