We have a national footprint and multifaceted staffing model, and are looking for a well-rounded employment attorney to join us and help us continue to grow. You will be one of the first lawyers to join the team and will have the opportunity to learn, create, build, have fun, and make a difference.

You Will:

    • Be the key partner for the People and offsite staffing teams, helping them build and execute Forward’s policies, approaches, and strategies on all aspects of employment.
    • Own the breadth of legal issues surrounding staffing at Forward - including maintaining our culture, worker classification, wage and hour, pay equity, COVID considerations, workplace investigations, DEI&B, and more.
    • Own various litigation matters. You won’t be the only litigator on the team, but you will be responsible for all employment-related litigation matters and will be on the list of teammates who will take responsibility for non-employment litigation.
    • Work alongside our general counsel to solve high-priority challenges and scale the company. You’ll manage the employment function but will have an impact across the company both related to and more broadly than employment.
    • Be a legal ambassador. Share the mission of legal, inspire people to work with legal, and field and clarify questions from people across Forward.

You Are:

    • An employment law generalist: You know a lot about a lot of things in employment, and are comfortable diving into new challenges.
    • Process and metrics oriented: You’ve got a metric for everything, and you consider ad hoc approaches your enemy. You break down ideas, projects, and problems into components and create logical progressions through those components.
    • Collaborative: Your impact is much greater because people like working with you and do more for you.
    • Entrepreneurial: You’re a self-starter who works independently with little supervision. You drive projects forward.
    • Mission-driven: Our ultimate goal is to help others by bringing them access to better care. We want to bring people on board who share that passion and drive and are motivated to help us get there.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Active membership in a state bar, CA preferred
    • At least 5-8 years of experience practicing as an attorney, with the bulk of your time focused on employment-related work

Preferred Qualifications:

    • In house experience
    • Startup experience
    • Work experience other than as an attorney
    • Interest in tech
