This role will support Dimensional Engineering projects for craftmanship and own flush and gap requirements.

Responsibilities

    • Lead and support the dimensional engineering activities for large scale product development programs by performing variation simulation analysis (VSA) using tools like 3DCS and predict the dimensional variations in the automotive systems and sub-systems throughout the many phases of product development.  
    • Define and establish craftsmanship, flush, and gap (F&G) requirements.
    • Maintain ownership of requirements from definition through release.
    • Serve as DVA (Dimensional Variation Analysis) lead for feasibility assessments.
    • Oversee the drawing-check process for designated vehicle commodities.
    • Define and implement measurement strategies.
    • Approve fixtures in line with project requirements.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve dimensional issues as needed.  
    • Apply GD&T standards to optimize design and tolerances to meet or exceed dimensional targets, improve product quality, reduce costs, and accelerate time-to-market 
    • Document and report findings, providing actionable insights to the product development teams. 
    • Travel to client sites required.  

Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 8+yrs relevant experience OR master’s degree in engineering and 6+yrs relevant experience.  
    • Minimum 6 years of experience in Dimensional Engineering or related area 
    • Strong understanding of flush and gap vehicle requirements, aligned with studio strategy and vision.
    • Proficiency in performing 1/3D stack-up analysis to evaluate feasibility.
    • Ability to organize and present complex technical information in a clear, concise, and impactful way across the company.
    • Strong understanding of Variation Simulation Analysis tools
    • Working experience in CATIA V5 or V6/3DX
    • Good understanding of GD&T standards is required.  
    • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes is required.  
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.  
$130,000 - $140,000 a year
