The Transportation Procurement Manager is responsible for the procurement of third-party transportation vendors that support all vertical operations. This position requires leadership and maintaining accountability for various related projects and participants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Vendor Pool Management:

    • Actively source transportation vendors to meet financial and operational targets.
    • Manage vendor database (profiles, rates, size, contacts).
    • Pipeline management – active weekly reporting of vendor pipeline recruiting.
    • Targeted sourcing – create capacity aligned with existing needs/new business opportunities.
    • Develop network of vendors to serve as flex capacity offering back up services when IC drivers are not available. 
    • In partnership with the cross functional teams, participate in Quarterly/Annual business reviews with large vendors – service performance, data transfer, growth opportunity, feedback, etc.
    • Proactive review of consolidation / profitability opportunities.
    • Responsible for the RFP process for outsourced work including but not limited to engaging vendors, negotiating rates and contract terms, submitting bids through the pricing department, and vendor onboarding.
    • Consolidate with preferred vendors.
    • Create competitive tension in vendor pool for USPack customer deliveries.
    • Vendor contract management compliance in accordance with department requirements.
    • Manage standards around databasing, rate cards, and process.
    • Standardize data exchange with vendor pool.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Vendor Rate Management:

    • Standardize rate mechanics.
    • Standardize fuel surcharge grids in accordance with USP published FSC. 
    • Introduce volume discount programs with vendors reaching specific thresholds.
    • Pro-active engagement with vendors on upcoming increase needs.
    • Create flowthrough of requests to standard internal review / potential customer discussion (increased rates to support increased costs).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Retail Sales Partnership - Same Store Sales:

    • Support pro-active sales engagement with existing customer base.
    • Vendor open capacity in existing footprints.
    • Strong relationships / vendor capacity in markets not serviced with existing customers. 
    • Proactive engagement on cost saving opportunities for retail customers (days of service, zone bundling, delivery window review, etc.).
    • Support cost modeling of new opportunities. 
    • Engagement with vendors as potential sales channel.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Logistics/Courier route management experience along with a background in contracting vendors, route scheduling and customer service skills are critical to this position.
    • Proficient in analyzing, understanding, and disseminating data throughout the US Pack organization.
    • Strong strategic planning, internal/external relationship building, customer service focus, financial and business acumen. 
    • Able to maintain a high level of professionalism, composure, and calmness throughout all levels of customer and vendor relations. 
    • Expert in MS Office Programs (Outlook, Excel, and Word) experience required.
    • Ability to lift to 25 pounds on occasion.
    • Availability to travel to meet the company’s needs in all divisions. Approximately 25% travel may be required.

Qualifications - Education, Experience, Certificates, and Licenses:

    • 5+ years’ experience in operations management within the transportation industry including procurement functions.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Six Sigma Certification preferred.
Shift Days: Monday-Friday
Shift Hours: 8:00AM-5:00PM (Available to work extra hours, weekends, and holidays preferred.)
Pay Rate: from $70,000 salaried
Travel required: up to 25%
