Laboratory Technician/ Research Associate, Process Development

The Role:

The Laboratory Technician/ Research Associate, Process Development will be responsible for supporting all process development activities beginning at Graphite Bio for both pipeline programs as well as process optimization for clinical candidates. The Laboratory Technician will work on all activities in collaboration with technical stakeholders within the CMC Process Development group at Graphite Bio.

What You Will Do:

    • Provide operational support for the development of processes for complex cell and gene therapies using gene editing methods like CRISPR/Cas9
    • Perform analytical testing using methods like flow cytometry, ddPCR and CFU assays during development and scale up runs
    • Perform flow cytometry, ddPCR, CFU and other such assays for in-house development products and incoming materials as needed
    • Perform hands on mammalian cell culture using primary hematopoietic stem cells derived from leukopaks as well as certain mammalian cell lines
    • Perform cell isolations using the CliniMACS Plus and CliniMACS prodigy system and cryopreserve cells for cell bank generation
    • Maintain supply inventory and ensure continuous supply of reagents and equipment specific materials
    • Maintain LN2, freezer and refrigerator inventory
    • Assist with procurement, maintenance, set up and installation of laboratory equipment
    • Write technical documents including laboratory procedures and technical reports

What You Will Bring

    • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in biology or related field
    • Experience with mammalian cell culture and PCR is highly desired
    • Experience working in a biological laboratory environment in academia or industry
    • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to organize and multi-task as needed in a start-up environment
