Hi, we’re Gravie. Our mission is to improve the way people purchase and access healthcare through innovative, consumer-centric health benefit solutions that people can actually use. Our industry-changing products and services are developed and delivered by a diverse group of unique people. We encourage you to be your authentic self - we like you that way.

A Little More About Us:
·       We know healthcare. Our company was founded and is still led by industry veterans who have started and grown several market-leading companies in the space.
·       We are quickly becoming one of the fastest growing health benefits companies in the country. We have received numerous awards and accolades, including Inc. Magazine Best in Business Gold Medal award in 2021, and JMP Securities Top 50 Private Companies in Insurtech in 2022.
·       We have raised money from top tier investors who share the same long-term vision as we do of building an industry defining company that will endure over the long run. We are well capitalized.
·       Our customers like us. Our revenue churn is in the low single digits, in an industry where greater than 20% churn is common.
·       Our culture is unique. We tend to be non-hierarchical, merit-driven, opinionated but kind people who thrive working in a high-performance, fast-paced environment. People at Gravie care deeply about making a positive impact in the lives of the people we serve. We may not be the right place for everybody, but if you get energized by doing work every day that focuses on putting consumers at the front of the line, we could be a great place for you. It takes unique people and diverse perspectives to deliver our results. We encourage you to be your authentic self – we like you that way.

A Little More About The role:
We are looking for a driven professional who possesses exceptional technical and leadership qualities to spearhead our Machine Learning (ML) team. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply passionate about technology and keen on employing the most current AI/ML methods to tackle significant, real-world problems.

You will:
·       Shape and direct our AI/ML strategy to align with Gravie's objectives and strategic priorities, pinpointing opportunities where AI/ML can add significant value, and clearly articulating the value to leadership and the broader team.
·       Oversee the entire ML project lifecycle — from initial scoping, through roadmap development and milestone planning, to execution and analysis — ensuring timely and effective delivery of results aligned with success criteria.
·       Ensure the ML team adheres to best ML practices and principles. Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure timely and provide regular reports to executive leadership.
·       Cultivate, mentor, and lead a ML team, fostering collaboration and professional growth while managing resources and budgets effectively.
·       Work closely with various departments and stakeholders to align AI/ML initiatives with business needs, ensure smooth execution of ML roadmap, and communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
·       Work closely with data management teams to ensure data infrastructure supports AI/ML initiatives and establish data governance policies to ensure the quality, accuracy, and security of data used by the ML team.
·       Stay updated with advancements in AI/ML and continuously assessing their relevance and potential impact on Gravie’s strategic goals and vision.
·       Stay informed about legal and ethical considerations in AI/ML and ensure our AI/ML practices comply with relevant regulations and ethical standards.
·       Demonstrate commitment to our core competencies of being authentic, curious, creative, empathetic and outcome oriented.

You bring:
·       A Master’s or Ph.D. degree in AI and Machine Learning, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
·       5+ years of hands-on experience with successfully building and managing Machine Learning products end-to-end in the startup ecosystem, preferably within the healthcare or insurance sectors.
·       Deep understanding of AI/ML and statistical models, coupled with a substantial track record of applying these techniques effectively in practical, real-world environments.
·       Expertise and experience with standard machine learning development tools and libraries such as Python, Scikit-learn, Pandas, PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace, Anyscale, etc.
·       Experience with ML tools and platforms essential for managing the full lifecycle of ML projects including data management (Spark and Databricks), model development and versioning (HuggingFace, Anyscale, Weights and Biases, MLflow, DVC), model deployment (AWS Sagemaker), automated pipelines for model training and testing, and CI/CD pipelines, among others.
·       Proven experience in leading and developing talent within the ML team and managing ML projects end to end with a focus on strategic thinking and alignment with business.
·       Excellent problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach to challenges.
·       Exceptional ability in articulating complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders, connecting business requirements to technical areas, and managing various stakeholders and multiple projects effectively.

Extra credit:
·       Experience in startups, particularly within the healthcare and insurance sectors.
·       Familiarity with data pipelines and data visualization tools like Tableau.
·       Familiarity with healthcare regulations, and compliance standards.
