Building upon over a decade of academic experience honing the cutting edge of large-scale robotics, we continue to innovate as we rapidly position ourselves in a trillion dollar industry through active deployments with market leaders.
About the Job
We are looking for an electrical engineer to help further develop the electrical design of the Gravis hardware package that turns regular excavators into awesome, autonomous machines. You will work with our engineering team in Zurich to design, engineer, prototype, test, refine, manufacture, and implement custom hardware that enables our AI to control and assist with the safe operation of heavy machines. You are capable of working both independently and with others, and are intrinsically driven to solve challenging applied problems with a rigorous attention to detail and an explorative imagination.
Responsibilities
- Electrical design of our next generation of vehicle integration package, including embedded compute, power management, sensing, and RF circuitry.
- Develop custom PCBs, antenna integrations, and interfaces.
- Develop test fixtures & manufacturing bring-up plans as your designs move from prototype & low-volume production into mass production.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical engineering challenges (RF testing, power filtering, data throughput, etc.), implementing innovative and practical solutions in a rapid development environment.
- Partner with the mechanical design team to create rugged, elegant, and easy-to-install wiring harnesses to be used inside our units and for integrating with machines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical components into larger systems.
- Create and maintain documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.
- Perform electrical calculations, simulations, and testing to evaluate system performance and optimize efficiency.
Requirements
- University degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong expertise in PCB design and experience with multi-layered boards, ideally in Altium Designer.
- Experience in hardware industrialization.
- Understanding of circuit design best practices.
- Experience in wire harness design.
- Ability to verify and troubleshoot electronic systems.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
Beneficial Experience
- Experience with mechatronic hardware systems.
- Experience with RF circuit design and implementation - GNSS, Wifi, Cellular, and high-frequency data transmission.
- Experience with the design of safety electronics
- Firmware programming.
- Experience with robotics and robotics middleware (e.g. ROS/ROS2).
Don't meet every requirement? If you're enthusiastic about this role, but your experience doesn't match every qualification, we still encourage you to apply. You might be the perfect candidate for this or other positions.
This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and versatile team, and to be part of a young startup that will revolutionize heavy construction. You will get the chance to apply your skills to critical tasks, while learning from a team of world-class engineers.
