Greenlight is looking for a Director, Production Operations to join our growing team. You will be responsible for leading and scaling our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Cloud Engineering functions. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our platform, as well as driving the adoption of cloud-native best practices and fostering a culture of operational excellence.

Your day-to-day:

    • Ability to define and execute strategic roadmaps, aligning tech with business needs.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.
    • Experience in budgeting, resource allocation, and cloud cost optimization.
    • Proven success in attracting, retaining, and developing top-tier engineering talent.
    • Deep understanding and practical experience with SRE principles (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident management).
    • Extensive hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS preferred), IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation), distributed systems, microservices, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
    • Expertise in monitoring, logging, observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
    • Translate incident learnings into preventative measures, automation, and architectural enhancements.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning from failures and successes.
    • Strong analytical skills for root cause analysis and problem-solving during incidents.

What you’ll bring to the team:

    • Proven leadership in mentoring and guiding SRE and Cloud Engineering teams, with a focus on cultivating operational excellence.
    • A strategic mindset with the ability to define and drive the SRE roadmap in alignment with broader business goals.
    • Deep expertise in establishing and scaling SRE best practices, including defining SLIs/SLOs and managing error budgets.
    • Hands-on experience architecting and maintaining highly available, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS.
    • Strong incident management skills, including leading high-stakes triage efforts and driving blameless postmortem culture.
    • A systems-thinking approach that promotes learning from incidents and implements long-term improvements.
    • Passion for automation, with a track record of reducing toil and improving system reliability through tooling and process enhancements.
    • Curiosity and technical depth to evaluate, adopt, and scale new SRE and cloud technologies.
    • Collaborative spirit with the ability to partner closely with engineering, product, and security teams to embed reliability and security across the stack.

Our stance on salaries:
Greenlight provides a competitive compensation package with a market-based approach to pay and will vary depending on your location, experience and skill set. The total compensation package for this position will also include a discretionary performance bonus, equity rewards, medical benefits, 401K match, and more. Greenlight conducts continuous compensation evaluations across departments and geographies to ensure we are keeping our pay current and competitive.

The estimated base pay range for this position in (NY, CA, WA): $190,000-250,000
The estimated base pay range for this position in (CO): $190,000-240,000
