Are you a long-time property and casualty insurance industry professional?  Are you passionate about insurance systems and want to influence the future of the insurance business? 

If so, then being a Guidewire Business Analyst might be the right role for you.  Our Business analysts are our insurance experts within the product management team. Your primary responsibility would be to explain and represent the property and casualty insurance industry to the product development organization.

Your background should be in insurance, with roles at carriers, brokers, software vendors, or others within the insurance vertical. Maybe you’ve been an underwriter or underwriting manager, an agent, a business analyst, or a product owner. You should have a high degree of comfort with technology, and exceptional analytical and communications skills. You should also be comfortable both engaging in product design discussions with developers and presenting to prospective customers.

Because of our strong commitment to quality across the development team, you will also support the creation, execution and validation of robust functional and integration test cases that truly reflect how our customers would exercise our solutions.

As an Industry Analyst at Guidewire, your responsibilities will include:

    • Providing context and perspective to the Product Managers designing and prioritizing enhancements to our products.
    • Research of insurance industry questions, including interpretation and summarization of insurance manuals, regulatory filings, and publications from professional organizations or regulatory bodies.
    • Being the insurance expert who can help customers, prospective customers, engineering, sales, and other groups with questions.
    • Eliciting, analyzing, specifying, and validating the business needs of stakeholders, be they customers or end users.
    • Collaborating with project sponsors to determine project scope and vision.
    • Proposing solutions for representing German Commercial Lines and P&C Insurance content in Guidewire products, and identifies and communicates platform gaps where they exist.
    • Participating in Guidewire events as SME.

Desired skills/experience:

    • 5+ years of experience on the Commercial Lines Insurance and the P&C insurance industry side.
    • 3+ years of experience on the IT side of the insurance industry. 
    • Working knowledge of German Commercial Lines and P&C Insurance Insurance
    • Technical capacity - you should feel comfortable with XML and be able to communicate with the engineering team on tactical technical decisions is a plus. 
    • Familiarity with Insurance modeling.
    • Familiarity with modern, rules-based, configurable software applications.
    • Ability to translate high level requirements into detailed product specifications.
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
    • Good decision-making and analytical skills.
    • Ability to excel in a team-oriented environment. Experience with agile software development is a plus.
    • A real passion for Insurance, software systems and problem solving.
