Hadrian - Manufacturing the Future
Hadrian builds software-defined high precision component factories for the top aerospace companies in the world. After a successful customer beta phase, we are substantially scaling our operations to our second factory (based in Torrance) and are in the final stretch of building our core software engineering and product team from whom the future of Hadrian will be built upon. This team will leverage various current and advanced technologies and build custom in house software solutions to help improve, automate and scale the future of manufacturing in the U.S.
We are in search of software engineers with the drive to augment manufacturing and build complex, yet elegant software as well as the machinists who have a passion to push the trade forward.
We've raised >$200m to achieve this vision, with multiple rounds from Lux Capital, A16Z, Founders Fund, Construct Capital, Caffeinated Capital and more.
About the Controls Engineering Team
Hadrian's Controls Engineering team develops 0-1 automation solutions to supercharge the efficiency and capabilities of our CNC machines. The team focuses on developing novel solutions for automated probing validation, machine calibration, in-process control, tool laser measurement, breakage detection, tool life, offsets, and origins.
We need a Controls Engineer to execute our Machining roadmap to scale Hadrian to be multi-factory across the US. You will work closely with Applications Engineering, CAM Operations, Software Engineering, and Robotics to push the boundaries of machining at scale.
We are pushing the limits of machining automation and are looking to add a curious and self-motivated expert to join our already world class team.
In this role you will:
- Universal Controller Interface – Invent a universal controller interface for CNC machines to streamline operations and ensure interoperability across diverse machining platforms.
- Inspection and Process Control – Utilize spindle probing to revolutionize inspection and process control, enhancing precision and efficiency.
- Multi-Part Programming Solutions – Develop an adaptable multi-part programming solution to facilitate streamlined operations and flexibility.
- Automate Machine Calibration – Lead initiatives in automatic machine calibration, pushing the boundaries of operational excellence.
- Integrated Feedback Loop – Innovate an integrated CMM<>CNC feedback loop, bridging the gap between measurement and control in machining processes.
This might be a good fit
- Macro Programming – Experience writing macros for Fanuc and/or Heidenhain
- CNC Machine Operation – Ability to run and operate CNC machines including part setup, tool loading, tool offsets, spindle probing
- Software – Experience with coding and has a grasp of computer programming fundamentals.
- Communication– Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Machining Knowledge – Has applicable experience with a variety of machine types (mills, lathes), materials (alum, stainless, hard metals), tooling application, workholding, and fixture design.
What sets you apart:
- Experience with PLC programing, software engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or robotics
- Experience with hyperMILL, Heidenhain, Fanuc, NX, machining Inconel or Titanium, macro programming
- Strongly admired skills - System design, mechanical design, operational experience
For this role, the target salary range is $100,000 - $200,000 (actual range may vary based on experience).
This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
In addition to salary and equity, we offer:
- 100% coverage of platinum medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
- 401k
- Relocation stipend if you're moving from outside of LA
- Flexible vacation policy
