Who we are
We're building a Catholic meditation app. Think Calm or Headspace, but for prayer. We believe that people are searching for peace & spiritual growth, and that there is no surer way to find it than by learning to sit in silence with God: “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28).
Our goal is to build something that combines the beauty of the Church’s spirituality with truly world-class tech & design.
We launched the app in the Apple and Google Play stores in December of 2018 and so far we’ve been humbled with incredible growth & traction. We've been downloaded over 7 million times and have over 150,000 5-star reviews. We're blessed to be backed by some of the best VC investors in the world and are excited to build out the team to help a lot more folks grow closer to God.
Tldr: We are scaling and growing quickly and are looking for a contract accounting associate to help us maintain healthy financials and improve our month-end close process. This person will play a critical role on our finance team in delivering insights that help us shape the business.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a main liaison between the Hallow team and our external accounting firm, especially to review and resolve discrepancies during the month-end close.
- Prepare month-end schedules for certain accounting areas, including but not limited to B2B sales, gift cards, content licensing, and marketing expenses.
- Own accounts receivable and revenue collection. Work with our sales team and accounting firm to ensure proper invoicing and accounting based on contract terms.
- Provide cross-functional support by running the payment request process for our global content and marketing partnerships.
- Assist in preparing weekly and monthly financial and KPI reports.
- Handle various other accounting & finance tasks as assigned.

- Flexibility: This is a remote position. We are open to global candidates, but would like to maximize work overlap with the U.S. Central Time Zone.
- Comp: We will pay competitive market rates for this hourly position.
What We're Looking For
- Passion: First & foremost, we’re looking for someone excited about our mission. It makes it a lot more fun :)
- Experience: Associate's or bachelor’s degree in accounting, and at least 2 years’ experience with exposure to U.S. GAAP general ledger accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting. Strong Excel skills (Google Sheets experience a plus). Ability to interpret standard contract terms in order to apply accounting policies. Quickbooks Online experience is a plus but not required.
- Grit & detail-oriented: A start-up is tough and we really care about what we’re doing. You'll be coming into a fast-moving team, so perseverance and attention to detail are important.
- Flexibility & adaptability: This role will start at an average of ~15 hours per week, with a heavier workload during the first two weeks of the month for month-end close. While the work schedule is fairly flexible, ability to handle tight turn-arounds will be important! There will also be opportunities to expand responsibility over time, including in the near-term.
