Cornea - Principal Data Scientist

New York, NY /
Cornea /
Full Time
Who We Are:
At Cornea, we are building a machine learning platform to inform critical decision-making for active response and risk mitigation of wildland fires across both the public and private sectors.

Every year, the intensity and impact of wildland fires increases with climate change. And yet, decision makers have few tools that leverage technology and the massive amount of data available about weather, terrain, ground conditions, and fire behavior. With the United States spending $5 billion on wildland fire suppression, and a global, wildfire-related economic burden of $90 billion, there is a rapidly increasing need for collaborative and predictive tools to support fire management leaders. Cornea is at the forefront of this expansive opportunity and is ready to take on this critical challenge.

Cornea is a seed stage company in incubation at Hangar, a firm that funds and builds technology companies tackling public sector market challenges. Cornea offers competitive salaries, a stake in the company’s growth, flexible remote work and vacation time and the opportunity to work on the ground floor of solving the most imminent threats facing the globe today.
