POSITION SUMMARY
HASI is seeking an experienced asset management professional in the renewable energy sector to join our Portfolio Management team in Annapolis, MD. The Manager - Portfolio Management will be responsible for leading key financial and commercial activities related to the management of our portfolio of physical infrastructure investments, primarily grid connected and behind the meter renewable energy and energy efficiency assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Portfolio Management
The Manager - Portfolio Management will play a pivotal role internally in ensuring seamless portfolio management cross-functionally with our investment, legal, accounting, and treasury teams. Key responsibilities include:
Serving as a relationship manager with asset management counterparties at our sponsor partners
Performing portfolio monitoring, financial modeling, risk management, asset optimization analysis, contract review and negotiation, and overseeing the development and maintenance of internal reporting systems and dashboards
Facilitating seamless transition at closing of investments and provide feedback on experience from the existing portfolio to strengthen future investment underwriting
Supporting due diligence on new debt/equity investments and acquisition activity with a focus on key commercial contract terms, developing portfolio key metrics tracking for in house pro forma forecasting, analyzing production, operating expenses, and merchant curves, and assumption integrity
Enhancing power market/REC tracking intelligence (including basis, congestion, curtailment trends) and support strategies for portfolio optimization management
Preparing briefing decks and reporting materials for management synthesizing asset performance and avenues for improvement.
Acting as lead on any underperforming assets or workouts, in order to maximize value, including assumption of project operational requirements and negotiation of any restructurings or dispositions
Providing financial modeling and other necessary support for internal accounting and treasury teams to support corporate reporting requirements and cash flow forecasting
Understanding and internally communicating deal and transaction specifics and field ad-hoc requests from the business related to investment data, operating and financial performance and processes
Working closely with cross-functional teams to facilitate the complete, accurate, and timely onboarding of new transactions and ongoing monitoring of investments
Working with IT resources and Middle Office to support the ongoing build out of software systems, reports, and analytics, as needed
EDUCATION AND PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution with a degree in Finance, Economics, Business or Engineering; a master’s in finance, Economics or Business preferred; CFA Charter holder or CFA candidate would be a plus
Minimum of 5 years of experience in renewable energy project finance/valuation or finance/investment banking in the power sector. Excellent MS Excel financial modeling and data analysis skills, with demonstrable experience working with complex models, is a necessary requirement.

Advanced experience using Excel required and experience working with modern data analytics and reporting tools (Business Objects, SQL, SSMS, SSIS, R, Power BI, Tableau) preferred
