Job Responsibilities:
Operates back-hoe to dig trenches for installation of septic tanks and drain lines for sewage disposal system: Reads blueprints to determine
location of septic tank and drainpipes
Locate existing pipes needing repair or replacement, using magnetic or radio indicators
Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools
Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints and coordinating layouts
Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers
Install or repair sanitary or storm water sewer structures or pipe systems
Install water lines, sewer lines, and field lines
Grade or level trench bases, using tamping machines or hand tools
Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices
Train or supervise others in Septic Tank installs
Follow state and local laws and regulations and adhere to local building codes
Ability to perform all plumbing repairs and replacements to code
Follow OSHA safety standards and that team members are safe and conscious at all times
Train, coach, and mentor apprentices.
$15 - $35 an hour
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Position requires a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Current CDL.
Proficient using heavy machinery.
3-5 years of experience pumping septic tanks and grease traps.
A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Must be highly organized with good attention to detail and follow through.
Possess good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.
Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
Function in a team environment.
Must be able to use a computer tablet, smart phone and read a map or follow GPS.
