Founded by Uber alumni and venture backed, Haul is looking to rethink the employment model of 3.5 million trucker drivers and support a $800 billion trucking industry in the United States.

Haul maintains office hubs in the Bay Area and Denver, CO.

As a Financial Operations Manager, you will oversee the day to day management of financial operations at Haul.

You will supervise the daily accounting and financial activities of the company, including:
-payment processing
-fee distribution
-AR & AP activities
-financial reporting and the administration of GAAP and financial standards.

You will serve as a key manager to design, implement and maintain revenue processes and controls. You will also oversee and coordinate source data reports, third party reporting and cash transactions impacting revenue reporting.

The Financial Operations Manager is a partner to the sales, implementation and customer success teams and ensures a coordinated approach to the handling and reporting of all financial matters.

What you'll do

    • Provide and promote financial literacy and accounting excellence through informed, accessible and professional engagement.
    • Lead efforts to implement a new accounting, billing system and integrated revenue recognition software
    • Coordinate, prepare for and facilitate the annual external financial reporting of the company, including drafting financial statements, preparation of notes to financial statements, as well as the accompanying management discussion and financial statement analysis.
    • Work closely with product and analytics teams on business changes and new revenue products to ensure proper revenue recognition
    • Review and document complex customer contracts to ensure consistent application of revenue recognition policies in accordance with U.S. GAAP,
    • Revenue Recognition
    • Review revenue and deferred revenue journal entries and related reconciliations as part of the monthly financial close process, ensuring reconciling items are properly documented and establishing processes to prevent further occurrences
    • Analyze actual revenue results against forecast, prior quarters and prior years and provide succinct variance explanations to support the monthly financial results meeting
    • Analyze the allowance for credit losses and apply company policy for allowance provisions and write offs
    • Monitor sales team requests, suggesting contract adjustments to optimize revenue recognition accounting processes
    • Assist with calculation and accounting for sales commissions, eventually aiding in the implementation of an automated commission solutionAssist with accounting related to our Referral Partner Program
    • Support weekly, monthly & quarterly reporting and forecasting for the revenue organization
    • Prepare periodic management reports related to performance of different company divisions and other financial reports related to fundraising.
    • Process and analyze financial transactions.


    • 6+ years of experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with at least 3 years of revenue accounting experience (Revenue Recognition) at a Software company
    • Experience accounting for sales commissions
    • BS Degree in Accounting and CPA is a plus
    • Well-versed in revenue contracts review, identifying and prioritizing issues that may impact revenue recognition, independently assessing solutions, and thinking critically and creatively
    • Proficient with Microsoft Excel (Advanced, Pivot Tables, Vlookups, Conditional formulas), particularly in navigating detailed system-generated source reports, downloading and manipulating large amounts of data
    • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills, with high attention to detail
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment, collaborating with individuals across a broad range of operational, functional and technical disciplines
    • Ability to recommend and implement changes to improve processes and mitigate risk

Haul supports a "hybrid" office model where team members work in the company's offices for at least three days per week and elsewhere for the rest of the week.

For an all-remote position, we're putting a lot of thoughts on building an all-inclusive remote environment. Prioritizing documentation over verbal communication, asynchronous vs. in person.
