About Haus
Haus is a first of its kind decision science platform for the new digital privacy paradigm where data sharing and PII is restricted. Haus uses frontier causal inference based econometric models to run experiments and help brands understand how the actions they take in marketing, pricing and promotions impact the bottom line. Our team is comprised of former product managers, economists and engineers from Google, Netflix, Amazon and Meta who saw how costly it is to support high-quality decision science tooling and incrementality testing. Our mission is to make this technology available to all businesses, where all the heavy lifting of experiment design, data cleaning, and analysis/insights are taken care of for you. Haus is working with well known brands like FanDuel, Sonos, and Hims & Hers, and has seen more than 30x ROI by running experiments and helping brands make more profitable decisions. We are backed by top VCs like Insight Partners, 01 Advisors, Baseline Ventures, and Haystack.

We're honored that Haus has been recognized as one of 2024's exceptional startups!

The Role
This is a unique opportunity to assist us in building a robust and scalable foundational infrastructure for security, machine learning, and data, as well as facilitating rapid and reliable application development. You will work on the systems that power the Haus product, which are central to our mission. Additionally, you will become an integral part of our product squads, helping to guide them in making excellent design and architecture decisions.

The ideal candidate is a skilled software engineer and an excellent communicator with extensive experience in scalable distributed systems. They should also be well-versed in cloud infrastructure and security platforms/products. If you are a passionate technologist who enjoys taking the lead, learning new concepts, and embracing a wide range of responsibilities, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities

    • Participate in product squads day to day as a representative of Infrastructure and Security.
    • Identify and resolve security vulnerabilities
    • Develop scalable distributed infrastructure that power critical features on the Haus Platform.
    • Identify opportunities and lead efforts to consolidate key functionality into reusable, generalized patterns or services.
    • Build efficient solutions on top of Google Cloud Platform using Terraform, Python and other languages as appropriate.
    • Influence and help to operate our entire platform using modern technologies such as Kubernetes, etc.
    • Contribute heavily to the overall architectural direction at Haus.

Qualifications

    • 10+ years of experience as a Software, Reliability, Security or Infrastructure Engineer, with a minimum of 5 years experience building scalable distributed infrastructure in the cloud.
    • Experience deploying, scaling, securing and monitoring products that rely on large-scale distributed systems in Python or Go, Scala/Java, or other similar languages:  it makes you uncomfortable deploying something for end-users without thinking about things like performance metrics, monitors and dashboards, graceful degradation and feature flags.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in more ambiguous environments:  you are an excellent communicator who can take a high-level goal, work with others to deliver pragmatic, shippable solutions — and then evolve and generalize them.
    • Extensive experience with cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud, AWS, etc) and Docker/Kubernetes.

Bonus Points

    • Earlier stage startup experience.
    • Experience with Flask or other python web frameworks
    • Experience with React-Query, XState for frontend state management
    • Experience with data integrations with third party sources

What We Offer

    • Competitive salary and startup equity
    • Top of the line health, dental, and vision insurance
    • 401k plan
    • Provide you with the tools and resources you need to be productive (new laptop, equipment, you name it)

Company Values
The point of our values is to help our team make difficult choices.
Aim high: We choose lofty goals that might fail over safe goals that always succeed.
Block the puck: We prioritize our team’s success over our own individual comfort.
Communicate directly: We all give feedback to each other, not just managers to reports.
Done is better than perfect: We take small inexact steps rather than large impeccable leaps.
Experiment: We try new ideas rather than repeating known formulas.
