About Hawthorne

Welcome to Hawthorne. We are creating the next generation of men's personal care brand – one that is more personal, trustworthy, and empowering.

We are seeing a societal shift in how men perceive themselves and their relationships with their personal care products. Hawthorne creates tech-differentiated experiences, function-first formulas, and modern brand experiences to make it easy to discover, learn about, and use the right premium personal care products and ingredients for your skin type, hair type, and body chemistry.

Our team's roots are in fashion, art, and music (Adidas, Hood by Air, OVO by Drake), as well as leading direct- to-consumer brands (Harry's, Away, Smile Direct Club, Curology). We've been featured in GQ, Hypebeast, The NY Times, Forbes, WSJ, and Vanity Fair, and we're backed by the investors behind Glossier, Everlane, and Dollar Shave Club.

Hawthorne is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to tackle the toughest engineering challenges through individual and collaborative efforts and to establish a strong and scalable technical foundation for the company.

As part of a small team, you'll be working closely with other engineers as well as cross functionally solving both technical and experiential projects. We highly encourage project ownership for engineers at any level.

We're all generalists that enjoy being involved from digital product ideation all the way through deployment and tracking metrics. If you also enjoy full stack engineering, then we'd love to hear from you!

What You'll Do:

    • Full stack application development work from frontend to DB layer and infrastructure.
    • Own projects and push them through from genesis to release (planning, execution strategy, implementation, testing).
    • Mentor other engineers by providing guidance to help hone their craft through problem solving, prioritizing, and decision-making.
    • Encourage innovation with new technologies, elegant solutions and guided process.
    • Help shape engineering culture. We're a small, tight-knit team that's open to change. We're constantly figuring out what works for us.

What You Bring to the Team:

    • 3+ years of full stack engineering.
    • The ability to put themselves in the shoes of the customers and craft great experiences.
    • A high bar for quality of code and quality of user experience.
    • Enjoy building new products from scratch, not just improving existing ones.
    • Open to challenging existing ideas and methods and thinking outside of the box (both within engineering and cross-functionally).
    • Thrives in a highly collaborative team environment.
    • Familiarity with the e-commerce space and an e-commerce framework is a plus.
We welcome qualified candidates of all races, creeds, genders, and sexuality to apply.
