At Mongoose, we believe every conversation matters.
We’re on a mission to change lives by making conversation intelligence accessible to all in higher education. Our purpose? To move people forward. Whether it’s helping a student navigate their first semester, connecting alumni with meaningful opportunities, or ensuring parents feel informed and supported—our AI-enabled platform drives compliant, empathetic, and impactful conversations that build trust and foster success campus-wide.
We know that conversations aren’t just a feature—they’re the foundation of connection. That’s why we focus on delivering insights, relevance, empathy, scale, and trust in everything we do. At Mongoose, we’re transforming communication in higher ed because we believe reputation is a mutual responsibility, and the right insights fuel measurable outcomes.
Join us and be part of a team that’s making a real difference in education—one conversation at a time.
As a Product Marketing Director, you’ll be the force that makes our products unmistakably clear and compelling in the market—shaping our positioning, messaging, and go-to-market so customers instantly see the value and choose Mongoose. You’ll translate customer and competitive insights into sharp narratives, lead launches that drive adoption and expansion, and equip Sales and Customer Success with the enablement to win more, faster. Success in this role will be measured by improvements in win rates and sales velocity, adoption and activation of key releases, and influenced pipeline/ARR growth tied to our Conversation Intelligence Platform. If you love shaping category narrative, turning insight into impact, and orchestrating cross-functional GTM that moves the needle, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
- Make Our Story Crystal Clear: Turn product value into simple, compelling positioning and messaging that anyone can understand, and tailor narratives to real buyer pains and outcomes across higher-ed stakeholders.
- Lead Launches That Land: Build and run go-to-market plans with clear goals, owners, and dates so there are no surprises at launch, then drive post-launch adoption plays and adjust quickly based on what the data tells us.
- Bring Market Insight to the Table: Keep a steady drumbeat of customer conversations, win/loss analysis, and competitive intel, and turn those insights into smart bets for roadmap, messaging, and enablement.
- Help Sales Win More, Faster: Create practical tools that actually get used—battlecards, talk tracks, ROI stories, and short demos—and partner with Sales on key deals to sharpen positioning, handle objections, and speed cycles.
- Fuel Product-Led Growth: Partner on in-product messaging and activation moments that nudge users to adopt and expand, while defining the signals that matter (activation, usage milestones) and triggering the right plays.
- Ship Content That Matters: Lead the creation of product pages, solution briefs, release notes, and customer proof that demonstrate real outcomes, while keeping our voice consistent across web, campaigns, and the field.
- Measure and Learn: Stand up a simple PMM dashboard that tracks win rate lift, message pull-through, adoption of key releases, and influenced pipeline/ARR, then share what’s working, what’s not, and what we’re trying next.
- Keep Everyone Rowing the Same Direction: Run tight GTM standups and readiness checklists to clear blockers early, and bring the voice of the customer into Product and leadership conversations at the right moments.
What You'll Bring To The Table
- Proven B2B SaaS product marketer: Owns positioning and tiered go-to-markets end to end—and can point to real outcomes (e.g., win-rate lift, faster stage conversion, adoption gains). Has led multiple high-impact launches, applied critical thinking to turn customer and competitive insight into messaging sellers actually use, and can back it up with results.
- Strategic Marketer with Range: 8+ years in B2B SaaS marketing, including 5+ in Product Marketing. Able to zoom out to shape narrative and zoom in to ship the assets that make it real (positioning, messaging, tiered GTM plans). Highly analytical with the ability to turn deep competitor insights into positioning, messaging, and sales enablement. Led at least 3 Tier-1 launches (new product or major reposition) with clear business outcomes.
- Sales Ally, Not a Slide Factory: Proven impact on the field, with win rate improvements of ≥5–10 points and/or faster stage conversion tied to messaging and enablement. Builds tools sellers actually use—battlecards, talk tracks, ROI stories, short demos—with >70% field adoption within 60 days.
- Insight-Driven, Not Opinion-Driven: Runs a steady cadence of win/loss analysis, customer interviews, and competitive tracking—and turns it into decisions. Can point to before/after examples where insight changed the story and moved a key metric (e.g., ASP, time to close).
- Operator Who Ships: Drives tight planning, clean execution, and on-time launches while keeping owners, dates, and “definition of done” visible. Maintains a strong editorial bar: work is clear, consistent, on brand—and measurable against targets.
- Product-Led Growth Curious (and Capable): Experienced with in-product messaging/activation (e.g., Pendo, Appcues, Amplitude) and tying experiments to adoption/expansion lift. Comfortable defining activation milestones and partnering with Growth/CS to trigger the right plays.
- Storyteller and Simplifier: Translates features into outcomes people care about—plain language, no fluff. Able to tailor the same story for VPEM, Registrar, CIO/IT, Student Success, and Advancement audiences.
- Collaborative by Default: Works effectively with Product, Sales, CS, and Marketing, knowing when to lead vs. influence. Comfortable facilitating alignment and clearing blockers early.
- Tools & Craft: Hands-on with HubSpot/SFDC, product analytics (Pendo/Appcues/Amplitude), BI (Looker/GA4), and call intelligence (Gong). Skilled with PMM staples: messaging frameworks, competitive grids, pricing/packaging input, launch checklists, and enablement playbooks.
- Higher-Ed Fluency (Nice to Have, Not a Gate): Familiar with campus stakeholders and systems (e.g., Slate, Salesforce Education Cloud/TargetX, Banner/Colleague, Campus Solutions, Workday Student, Canvas/Blackboard/D2L). Comfortable with FERPA/HECVAT/DSA basics and RFP/RFI cycles.
