Hello Neighbor is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communication Coordinator to help shape and share the organization’s story across platforms. This role plays a key part in strengthening Hello Neighbor’s public presence and brand consistency — from social media and newsletters to blogs, printed materials, and more.

The Communication Coordinator will lead day-to-day content development, manage communication channels, and coordinate branding and design needs. They will work closely with internal teams and external contractors to ensure timely, engaging, and mission-aligned communication that reflects Hello Neighbor’s values and impact.

Founded in 2017, Hello Neighbor empowers refugees and immigrants through community connections, helping them move from arrival to belonging with dignity, cultural sensitivity, and meaningful support. Our work is organized across three departments—Education & Community Empowerment, Health & Stabilization, and Employment—each running programs designed to meet the unique needs of the communities we serve. In addition to our local work, we lead a National Network of grassroots organizations across the U.S., united by a shared commitment to supporting refugee and immigrant families and inspiring long-term change.


Reports To: Development Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:


    • Content Creation & Strategy
    • Develop and manage a content calendar across platforms (social media, blog, email, etc.) that aligns with campaigns, events, and global moments.
    • Research cultural trends, peer nonprofit communications, and relevant storytelling opportunities to inform content planning.
    • Craft compelling stories and mission-driven messaging that connect with diverse audiences and elevate Hello Neighbor’s voice.

    • Social Media & Public Relations
    • Manage Hello Neighbor’s social media presence—schedule, write, and publish engaging content across platforms.
    • Monitor performance metrics and media trends to refine communication strategies and expand reach.
    • Draft press releases, support press outreach, and cultivate media relationships to amplify our brand and impact.

    • Branding & Design Coordination
    • Coordinate branded materials, merchandise, and advertising assets; manage print and promotional orders.
    • Ensure consistent brand use across programs, materials, and internal teams.
    • Develop and maintain communication and branding guidelines, including tone, language usage, and approved assets.

    • Website & Digital Asset Management
    • Coordinate website updates and collaborate with contractors to ensure fresh, accurate, and visually aligned content.
    • Capture and curate photo and video content at events and day-to-day activities; maintain an organized digital media library.
    • Lead on developing and updating website copy for Hello Neighbor and Hello Neighbor Network pages.

    • Collaboration & General Responsibilities
    • Work closely with contractors and internal teams to align messaging and deliver creative materials on time.
    • Respond to content requests across departments and support cross-functional communication needs.
    • Participate in meetings, uphold confidentiality, and complete other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 2+ years of experience in nonprofit communications or public relations
    • Familiarity with social media platforms, content scheduling tools, and newsletter software (e.g. Mailchimp, Canva)
    • Knowledge of media outreach, including press release writing and building media lists.
    • Experience supporting brand consistency, coordinating design needs, or updating website content.

Additional Details

    • Employment Type: Full-Time (9am–5pm) | Non-Exempt
    • Work Schedule: Hybrid – In-office Tuesday to Thursday
    • Location: Larimer, Pittsburgh, PA
    • Department: Development
    • Compensation: $19-21 /hour 
    • Benefits: package available, including 75% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents; generous PTO and holidays; and a retirement savings plan with employer match after 12 months of employment.
