Hello Neighbor is seeking a Finance Manager. This position is ideal for someone with 1-3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping. You will work closely with the Assistant Director of Finance to oversee the day to day financial tasks as well as assist with month-end and financial preparations. 

Founded in 2017, Hello Neighbor empowers refugees and immigrants through community connections, helping them move from arrival to belonging with dignity, cultural sensitivity, and meaningful support. Our work is organized across three departments—Education & Community Empowerment, Health & Stabilization, and Employment—each running programs designed to meet the unique needs of the communities we serve. In addition to our local work, we lead a National Network of grassroots organizations across the U.S., united by a shared commitment to supporting refugee and immigrant families and inspiring long-term change.

This is an in-house regular, full-time non-exempt position at our Pittsburgh, PA office in Larimer. We are currently on a hybrid work schedule of 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday; in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The successful candidate must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

    • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
    • Maintain confidentiality of information
    • Utilize QuickBooks for managing organizational financials 
    • Assist in the month-end close and preparation of financials 
    • Investigate accounts; understand and communicate causes of variances to the budget, and identify classification and coding errors
    • Review and process payables using Bill.com A/P
    • Prepare monthly invoices for Federal Contracts
    • Work closely with Program Managers for client rent and cash assistance monthly needs
    • Assist the Assistant Director of Finance in the annual audit and 990 preparation.
    • Ad Hoc tasks and projects assigned to you by the Assistant Director of Finance

Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field 
    • 1-3 years of bookkeeping or related work experience
    • Understanding of nonprofit finances and reporting. Work experience in a philanthropic, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization a plus
    • An understanding and experience in Full-Cycle Accounting
    • High level of organization and attention to detail, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at one time
    • Knowledge and proficiency in online tools, including Quickbooks, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite tools 
    • Ability to communicate clearly and interact well with the team
    • Able to work both independently and as a team member

Additional Details

    • This is a full-time, non-exempt position at our Pittsburgh, PA office in Larimer.
    • Clearances required: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal History Clearance (PA Act 23 & Act 24); Mandatory Reporter and/or PSEA training may also be required depending on job requirements

    • Hourly Range $21.63-24.03/hour, nonexempt
