Overview of Role
Heretic’s San Francisco based stealth portfolio company, a consumer-facing AI startup, is seeking an entry-level coordinator to help us gather and organize a wide range of data to train our AI models. This is a contract role with the possibility of converting into a full-time role at some point in the future.
This role requires good organizational skills, an interest and passion for design goods and fashion, analytical thinking, and solid data analysis skills. It reports to the company’s Data Strategist.
About Heretic
Heretic Ventures is a San Francisco-based venture studio ideating and launching new businesses in the creator economy, including those that capitalize on AI/ML technology. Heretic is run by Managing Partner Mariam Naficy, who founded and built the pioneering internet companies Minted and Eve.com.
Heretic is backed by household names in Silicon Valley (investors and entrepreneurs), who act as the studio’s advisors both in selecting and in advising companies.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the acquisition and creation of data for training AI models, including working with independent contractors and using in-house tools
- Attend regular planning meetings, and make sure that enough resources are available to get the data work done.
- Keep track of spending to make sure the work stays within budget
- Learn how to use the company’s internal tools to generate necessary data at scale. The company will provide the training, but the coordinator will have to learn how to use the tools effectively and without supervision
- Analyze the output of the work and discuss it with the company’s data strategist, category managers, and AI team to ensure the types of training data that is created is correct
Qualifications
- Senior graduating in 2024 or college degree from a top US academic institution
- BA in English, Art History, Design, Art, Philosophy or other humanities degree
- Enjoys both in-store and online shopping. Has a point of view on style
- Extremely comfortable with advanced Excel capabilities such as pivot tables, vlookup, and conditional statements Interest in learning about introductory data analysis and analytical tools
- Is truly cross-disciplinary thinker who can range across analysis, style, and analytical thinking. If you are a pure analytics specialist or pure design & style specialist then this role is not for you
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Foreign language capabilities a plus
