Role overview
We’re looking for an experienced Controller to build and lead the finance function at Hey Jane. This is a highly strategic and hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, mission-driven environments and is excited to design financial systems that can scale. You will serve as the company’s financial leader, with a core focus on accounting operations and revenue cycle management, alongside budgeting, forecasting, tax support and healthcare compliance. You'll be both a strategic partner to leadership and a roll-up-your-sleeves operator, ensuring the business is running on accurate, timely, and insightful financial data. You'll work closely with leaders across departments to support planning, resource allocation, and operational efficiency. We’re a team deeply committed to expanding access to high-quality, patient-centered care. As our Controller, you’ll have a direct hand in shaping our operational and strategic trajectory, ensuring we grow sustainably and responsibly while advancing our mission.

What we’re looking for
5-10 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 2–3 years in a senior role
Strong foundation in GAAP accounting and controllership, with experience managing a bookkeeper or accounting team or handling those roles directly
CPA, CMA, or equivalent credential
Experience managing accounting across multi-entity or multi-site organizations, ideally in a healthcare setting
Expertise within healthcare or digital health environments
Strong strategic problem-solving skills
Comfortable working in and optimizing financial tools 
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
Clear communicator, highly organized, and thrives in ambiguous, fast-scaling environments

Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across multiple entities ensuring accurate and timely reporting
Manage and maintain GAAP-compliant financials, initially handling day-to-day bookkeeping until additional support is in place
Optimize financial systems, tools, and processes
Ensure ongoing compliance with tax, regulatory, and audit requirements
Manage and optimize intercompany loan repayment plans

Revenue Cycle Management & Cash Flow
Oversee healthcare revenue operations, including claims tracking, reconciliation, and cash collections
Collaborate with external billing and RCM vendors to ensure accurate and timely reimbursements
Maintain visibility into accounts receivable, revenue recognition, and payer mix trends

Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Finance
Build and maintain dynamic financial models, forecasts, and budgets
Deliver actionable insights to support executive decision-making and board reporting
Own internal budget-to-actual reporting and partner with teams on department-level financial planning
Support FMV analyses, capital planning, use-of-funds strategy, and investor communications as needed

Strategic Leadership
Serve as the financial thought partner to the CEO and leadership team
Identify cost optimization opportunities and drive financial discipline
Lay the foundation for future finance hires and help scale internal capabilities

Details
Compensation: $160-170K + equity
Remote from approved states (CA, CO, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, OR, and WA)
