About Highspot
Highspot is pioneering the category that is fundamentally changing the way companies increase sales productivity. On a mission to transform the way millions of people work with sales enablement, Highspot is committed to building breakthrough software with a spark of magic. We believe a great place to work is about more than the work – it’s about what the company stands for, and how it authentically represents its values in the real world. To this end, we have put intentional focus on creating equitable workspaces for each of our employees. Our goal is to create a culture where everyone feels a deep sense of belonging and is empowered to be an agent of change, with the ability to transform themselves, their workplace, and their world.

About the Role
At Highspot, we build software with a spark of magic. We’re looking for a Senior Web Software Engineer who will bring their creativity and experience to help us make Highspot’s website accessible to everyone. As part of our Shared UX team (growing from 5 to 9 engineers over the next few months), you’ll ensure that our design system’s React-based components are accessible, and guide our 100+ web engineers in updating Highspot’s website to the WCAG 2.1 AA standard. In this role, you will work broadly across the web platform in collaboration with Product Management, Design, and other functions. Highspot is built using React & React Testing Library, Sass/SCSS, Storybook, Webpack, Ruby, and Figma. We’re looking for folks familiar with accessibility (WCAG 2.1 in particular), screen reader technologies (e.g. Narrator, Voice Over, and TalkBack), ARIA, CSS, and axe-core.

What You'll Do

    • Create an excellent technical foundation for Highspot web accessibility by updating our design system components to be fully accessible.
    • Create training and guidance to teach other web engineers how to build product in an accessible way.
    • Coach other engineers on how to resolve tricky accessibility problems across Highspot’s website.
    • Partner with feature teams to build accessibility into key features.
    • Extend our design system with new components and refresh the appearance of existing components.
    • Extend our frameworks for settings, notifications, email, and localization.
    • Read legacy code while migrating functionality to modern standards.
    • Use your communication skills to represent highly technical concepts to web engineers, product managers, and designers.
    • Write high-quality code that is performant, reliable, secure, and well-tested—your code will be used by every feature on every team at Highspot.
    • Resolve customer technical issues in production.
    • Contribute to internal and external technical documentation used by hundreds of engineers.

Your Background

    • Note: probably no one perfectly matches the list below. We’re looking for folks who have many of these skills and are interested in acquiring the others.
    • Entrepreneurial: you’re agile, creative, resourceful, and tenacious as you solve problems and achieve team and company goals. You’re happy to write code one day, develop a presentation for all of web engineering the next, and debug deep into complex accessibility bugs the next.
    • Deep: you enjoy digging into the guts of how things work. You nerd out on the fine points of CSS and WCAG standards. You can talk about the complexities of large font support or accessible carousels. You care about the technology and the system more than specific business features.
    • Broad: sure, you’ve written lots of React code, but you’ve also written some Angular, Ember, or Backbone too. Web is your main gig, but you’ve written some scripts. You know that technical skills are critical, but you’re also working on your communication and influencing skills.
    • Experienced: you’ve spent 7+ years building cross-browser, highly interactive, performant web applications. You’ve spent 2+ years in roles where solving web accessibility issues was a significant part of the job.
    • Familiar with modern web technologies: React.js, CSS, Typescript, Storybook, Cypress or TestCafe, and Chrome Lighthouse’s accessibility audits.
Highspot also offers the following employee benefits for this position:
-Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, disability, and life benefits
-Group Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) and matching employer contributions (DPSP) with immediate vesting
-3 Weeks of Paid Vacation
-Generous Holiday Schedule + 5 Days for Annual Holiday Week
-Quarterly Recharge Fridays (paid days off for mental health recharge)

-Professional development opportunities through BetterUp and LinkedIn Learning

-Access to Coaches and Therapists through Modern Health
-2 Volunteer days per year
