About High Tech High
Developed by a coalition of San Diego civic leaders and educators, High Tech High opened in September
2000 as a small public project-based charter school with plans to serve approximately 450 students. HTH
has evolved into an integrated network of sixteen charter schools serving approximately 6,500 students in
grades K-12 across four campuses (Point Loma, Mesa, North County, and Chula Vista). The HTH
organization also includes a comprehensive adult learning environment including a Teacher Credentialing
Program and the High Tech High Graduate School of Education, offering professional development
opportunities serving national and international educators.
 
Job Function/Description
As a member of the Business Office team, the Senior Accountant will plan, organize, control, and direct the financial areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, benefits, cash management, financial reporting, and payroll. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for the oversight of all finance, accounting, and reporting activities. The Senior Accountant administratively supports the accounting operations, interfaces with customers and other organizational staff members. The position requires general knowledge of general accounting and administrative practices. Work consists of both routine and non-routine administrative accounting work performed using general procedures and processes.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
·       Distribute staff budgets, budget reports, and monthly financial statements.  Provide support with any necessary adjustments or corrections.
·       Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
·       Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
·       Monitor cash and funding balances.
·       Setup of new chart of accounts segments.
·       Prepares journal entries and reconciles County Treasury accounts.
·       Maintains fixed asset depreciation and amortization schedules.
·       Coordinate all audit activity. Respond to requests from auditors’ representatives, grantor organizations, and governmental organizations, including official financial reports and claims; represent the organization(s) during audits by public auditors.
·       Advise on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management and Chief Financial Officer.
·       Perform related duties as assigned
 
Knowledge and Qualifications

Education and Experience
·       BS in Accounting, Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, or Finance
·       Working knowledge of California Education Code and federal and state regulations
·       Working knowledge of Accounting Best Practices
·       5-10 years of experience in the finance field
·       Financial and operations management experience with a school district, and/or charter management organization preferred
 
Clearances
TB Clearance and Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.

·     The principal office for the Senior Accountant is located on HTH’s Point Loma campus in San Diego, California. However, this position is expected to travel to various HTH campus sites (San Marcos, Chula Vista and Clairemont) as needed.
