Developed by a coalition of San Diego civic leaders and educators, High Tech High opened in September 2000 as a small public charter school with plans to serve approximately 450 students. HTH seeks a Special Education Academic Coach III, to assist students within the classroom setting, as well as facilitate small group and individual instruction.

JOB SUMMARY
The Special Education Academic Coach III is responsible for ensuring that students with exceptional diverse needs have access to our general education curriculum. The Special Education Academic Coach III works predominantly withonestudentwith intensive needs. Special Education Academic Coaches are essential to ensuring all students get the individualized attention requisite for success.
Duties include:
● Assist teachers by working with individual students with intensive educational and / or medical needson a one-to-one basis
○ 1:1 duties mayinclude but are not limited to
■ Implementing a student health plan and/or attending to student health needs
■ toileting and hygiene support
■ implementation of a behavior intervention plan
■ 1:1 instruction delivered in a separate setting
■ lifting or transferring students
● Assist teachers by working with individual students to address their special education needs
● Assist with the instruction and supervision of students who may have learning differences
● Assist with tutorial activities working with the assigned 1:1 student individually or within a small group setting.
● Monitor student progress and provide input for evaluation using provided templates / resources
● Establish rapport and meaningful relationships with referred students to assist in improving their behavior, educational performance, and social relationships
● Perform clerical support duties including typing, completing documents, forms, record, correspondence; which may include note taking for students

EDUCATION
● High School diploma/GED and
○ An Associate's degree (or higher) or
○ 48 or more eligible units of coursework at a recognized college or university or
○ Met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading (or readiness), writing (or readiness), and mathematics (or readiness).
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Experience in a school/learning environment
● More than 6 months experience in implementing Applied Behavior Analysis
● More than 6 months experience in supporting student medical needs
SALARY & BENEFITS
This is an hourly position that can work variable hours up to 35 per week. This position does not initially
qualify for benefits.
$28.45 - $34.69 an hour
