Hiring Occupational Therapist - (Summer 2024 ESY)
 
JOB SUMMARY
Dates are June 27th- July 26th, no class on July 4th and 5th
 
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for ensuring that occupational therapy services are delivered to students with various disabilities in accordance with the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP). ESY services are provided each year and are required for students who experience significant regression and limited recoupment of skills during school breaks, and services are determined by the IEP teams. Services typically include specialized academic instruction, speech/language
services, occupational therapy, counseling services.

This is a short-term position for summer programming only. The number of positions needed will depend on the final enrollment, and services dictated by each student's IEP. The Extended School Year (ESY) program is funded proportionally by each school, depending on enrollment, and services are consolidated for PL, Mesa, and CV on a single campus.


 
Duties include:
 
●      Collaborates with team members for the purpose of providing individual, in-depth assessments of students to determine the nature and extent of motor disabilities.
●      Assess students' motor development and performance in activities related to curriculum and applicable to activities of daily living for the purpose of developing baseline information for placement and program development.
●      Reports assessment results for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding students' progress, expectations, goals, etc.
●      Participates in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) meeting for the purpose of developing and updating annual goals and objectives.
●      Develops, coordinates and implements individual occupational therapy intervention plans that support the IEP goals and objectives.
●      Recommends appropriate materials and activities for the purpose of improving students' motor skills.
●      Trains and serves as a consultant to program staff in areas such as sensory motor, sensory stimulation and body awareness, fine motor and gross motor skills and other areas within the therapist's area of expertise.
●      Participates in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.).

●      Ability to manage and appreciate diversity
●      Presentation skills
●      Significant physical abilities that may require carrying, balancing, reaching, crouching, etc.
 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
 
●      Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy required
●      Prior job-related experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform functions of the position
●      A valid license by the California Board of Occupational Therapy is required
●      A valid Class C, California driver's license, a driving record that meets district insurability requirements, and use of a personal vehicle is required
●      Valid First Aid and CPR Certificates issued by an authorized agency are required
 
 
SALARY & BENEFITS
 Hourly; pay rate $50/hr
