Developed by a coalition of San Diego civic leaders and educators, High Tech High opened in September 2000 as a small public charter school with plans to serve approximately 450 students. HTH has evolved into an integrated network of sixteen charter schools serving approximately 6,350 students in grades K-12 across four Campuses.

HTH seeks a Transitional Kindergarten Teaching Assistant to provide support for students and the community within our schools. This position is in-person on campus.

Job Summary:
We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Transitional Kindergarten Teaching Assistants to support our classroom environment and enhance the learning experience for our young students. The ideal candidate will work closely with the lead teacher to create a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive atmosphere that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development for children aged 3-5.

Key Responsibilities:
● Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities tailored to the developmental needs of transitional kindergarten students.
● Foster a safe and welcoming classroom environment, encouraging positive interactions among students.
● Support individualized instruction and facilitate small group activities to enhance learning and engagement.
● Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback and insights to the lead teacher.
● Assist with classroom management, ensuring a respectful and focused learning environment.
● Provide support for toileting needs, including assisting children with bathroom routines, encouraging independence, and maintaining hygiene standards.
● Help with the organization and preparation of instructional materials and classroom supplies.
● Supervise students during recess, lunchtime, and transitions, ensuring their safety and well-being.
● Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings as required.
● May be required to attend Student Led Conferences (SLC).
● May attend professional development opportunities with the Lead Teacher.
● Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
● 48 college credits or passing CBEST scores
● Child Development Permit preferred
● Experience working with young children, particularly in an educational setting, is highly desirable.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children, parents, and staff.
● Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for ear.ly childhood education.
● Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

● Primarily indoor working environment: office, classrooms, school sites with occasional outside travel.
