We are looking for our first Head of Data Science; this leadership position is a ground-floor opportunity at a fast-growing company. This person will spearhead all of our key data initiatives across data science, business intelligence/analysis, and clinical research. They will scale our team of analysts, data scientists, and statisticians while collaborating closely with engineering to build out our data infrastructure. The ideal candidate has a strong background in data science, statistics, and analysis, is comfortable working across multiple business units, and is a natural leader.

RESPONSIBILITES

    • Oversee day-to-day operations of our data team
    • Help us meet our hiring goals for data scientists and analysts
    • Collaboration with company stakeholders to understand their data wants and needs
    • Oversee both business intelligence and clinical research functions
    • Identify, promote opportunities for using data science in our consumer product in 2020
    • Plan for data infrastructure needs, especially around warehousing and tooling
    • Manage how we provide reporting, analysis to our B2B customers

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • 5+ years experience in a data-focused leadership position
    • People-management skills/experience with analysts, data scientists
    • Strong vision of the role of data science plays across business units
    • Can juggle a diverse set of projects and needs and comfortable with a fast pace
    • Experience running (AI/ML) models in consumer-facing products
    • SQL, Python mastery; comfortable with R or other statistical analysis packages
    • Terabyte-scale ETL experience
    • Deep understanding/background in applied statistics, incl. hypothesis-driven experimentation and multivariate testing
    • A learn-it-all, especially when it comes to different types of data (clinical, financial, etc.)
    • Problem-focused and able to understand the big picture before solutioning
    • Highly cross-functional: can partner with anyone in the company to problem-solve
    • High attention to detail and a high bar for quality
    • Has an eye for effective visualization of data / charting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • BA/BS or higher in applied statistics, mathematics, or CS, or equivalent hands-on experience
    • Experience in digital product development in the healthcare space
    • Healthcare data experience: eligibility/claims, HL7, CCDA (+ HIPAA)
    • A background in driving sustained behavior change in users
    • Know-how in building out public/enterprise API platforms
