Join our small Devops team running the Hired platform on AWS and help us improve our processes and reduce developer toil. Bring your experience with Docker, Terraform and ECS, and a dedication to automation and monitoring.

Who you are:

    • You’ve focused on Devops for 5 or more years and come from a background in agile development processes or sysadmin. Our experience skews to the sysops side of pure devops, but we don’t want to overspecialize… 
    • You have developed a deep familiarity with AWS services, Docker, Terraform, and a handful of other tools. You recognize the limitations of the tools you use daily, and you know what it feels like when an error gets propagated...
    • You’re interested in working with various engineering teams and mediating between development philosophies. We encourage new patterns to emerge from these negotiations. 
    • You may also have stared blankly at some code your smarter self wrote a year prior, and now recognize that documentation can be more valuable than cleverness. 
    • You have encountered and overcome some difficulties inherent in agile deployments within interconnected infrastructure patterns, and have perhaps emerged with insights into practices that can ease frictions between the objectives of diverse engineering teams.

What you'll do:

    • Evolve, maintain and develop CI/CD pipelines for new and existing services. Support developer pipeline feature requests and prioritize maximum impact while maintaining documentation and an improvement backlog.
    • Consult feature teams on new and old architecture and help productionalize deploy patterns. Understand the cost impacts of multi-service implementations and help right-size their components. 
    • Help triage application bug reports and follow through to root cause analysis. Keep an eye on logging and organize trouble indicators before they bubble to outages. Socialize improved monitoring, observability and testing.
    • Help survey our overall security and compliance posture as we undergo external audits and form response actions. Work with others in the organization to improve Engineering  security compliance.
    • Work with dependency scanning, DAST tools and penetration test results to help feature teams maintain the security of the Hired platform.
    • Take initiative to select and scope meaningful projects from our tech debt vault.
    • Assist with identity management using IAM and SAML/SSO.
    • Develop a voice within our engineering organization that shares your distinct perspective in healthy discussions while helping to articulate a unified vision behind our decisions.
