Hi-Rez Studios is looking for a Database Administrator to work onsite/hybrid at our studio in Alpharetta, Georgia. The Platform and Operations Division of Hi-Rez Studios is responsible for the development and support of programs that affect all Hi-Rez Products. Come join the creator of the critically acclaimed SMITE, Paladins & Tribes: Ascend, as we embark on exciting new game projects!
What our DBAs do:
- Maintain SQL development and production environments to ensure maximum uptime and business confidence.
- Work with programmers to develop and optimize queries used by the games and ancillary systems.
Who we are looking for:
- 3-6 years of IT operation, with understanding of database structures, theories, principals and practices.
- 2-4 years of Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator experience, SQL 2016 & Azure (Hyperscale and Managed Instance).
- Monitor and validate that the various database backup operations are successful
- Maintain, create, and monitor various database processes
- Proactively monitor the system hardware utilization, make capacity planning periodically for database systems
- Establish and maintain appropriate end-user database access control levels, actively monitor the databases to ensure secure availability.
- Create, maintain and extend scripts which are used in answering business questions or processing database changes
- Setup, maintain and monitor Windows failover clustering
- Setup, maintain and monitor SQL Server named instances
- Technical documentation skills

- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Preferred candidate has:
- BS Degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science or Information Technology
- Knowledge of reporting and query tools.
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- Scripting in other languages: Windows Powershell, Python, Chef, Puppet
