MagicLab are searching for a Research Director to join our team in London. In this role, you will lead initiatives to deepen customer understanding and evangelise customer centric practices. Focussing on the Badoo brand, you will be a pivotal partner to our CMO, Head of Creative, Head of Comms and Brand Directors. You’ll be working on a Global brand that is changing the lives of millions of people around the world already - and you’ll be helping us to grow and make an even more meaningful impact in the years to come. You will also be an integral part of the growth of our expanding research practice, helping us to scale into a world class team.

You will be a seasoned research professional with a proven track record of delivering rich, actionable insights.  You will also be comfortable operating in a fast paced environment. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Act as a partner and ally to our CMO, brand, design, creative and communication teams, to ensure that customer thinking is a core part of the marketing process
    • Deliver inspirational, action orientated and professional standard research
    • Deepen knowledge of our customers and target audience. For example through user profiling, segmentation, ethnography and immersion sessions
    • Develop insights which give a deep understanding of our current brand positioning and purpose
    • Provide inspiring insight which helps inform the development of marketing concepts and creatives
    • Lead efforts to understand the impact of our marketing efforts e.g. through brand and campaign tracking
    • Proactively identify new trends and opportunities which the business should act upon
    • Help build and scale the market research function - for example by mentoring junior researchers, educating on best practices, and expanding our methods and operations

Experience and Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of market research and customer insight experience
    • Comfort with running research studies yourself, from end to end
    • Understanding of how to work with modern, agile research techniques
    • Experience of a broad range of market research methods and techniques. For example: brand and advertising effectiveness studies, brand strategy and positioning research, concept and creative testing
    • Comfort with generating insight to fuel the creative development and marketing planning process
    • Comfort with working with and influencing at senior levels
    • Advanced experience with quantitative research techniques. Bonus points if you’re comfortable with SPSS, Survey Monkey or Qualtrics
    • Comfort and understanding of a broad range of qualitative research methods. Bonus points if you’re also comfortable with moderating qualitative research yourself
    • Understanding of the nuances of running multi market, Global research studies. Bonus points if this includes experience of working in emerging markets

    • Engaging, inspiring and clear communicator. A proven track record of socialising and embedding research findings to drive business outcomes
    • You know when to be scrappy and when to  hold the line on methodological rigour
