Hypebeast is a leading global platform for contemporary culture and lifestyle, and a premier destination for editorially-driven news and commerce. Founded in 2005, it became a publicly listed company in 2016, and today boasts a global readership across North America, Asia Pacific, Europe and more. The Group has expanded its publishing brands to a wider scope, encompassing Hypebeast and its multiple content distribution platforms, creative agency Hypemaker, e-commerce and retail platform HBX, distribution and merchandising segment Hyperoom and food and beverage destination Hypebeans.
Hypebeast is looking for an Editor to join our rapidly developing team. We require a creative and data driven mind who understands the world of fashion/culture and understands both editorial and social media platforms. This role requires a detailed understanding of publishing tools, analytics tools and social marketing technology along with all native platforms (WeChat, Weibo, Red, Douyin and more), in order to drive business goals such as audience growth, engagement, acquisition and reach. An in-depth knowledge of brands, culture and fashion is a must, but also the ability to spot trends and report on them using words and short-form video.
The Editor should have a firm understanding of Hypebeast aesthetics and brand power as a media and a terrific sense of editorial content in a wider youth culture landscape. This position will be reporting to the Associate Managing-editor.
Responsibilities:
- Produce daily content, both news and features, for the website and social media platforms while ensuring the direction is in line with the Hypebeast brand.
- Follow and contribute to a content calendar across editorial, social and video while aligning with the global team to generate a constant stream of content.
- Identify emerging subcultures and new communities that Hypebeast can grow into, in order to expand our audience reach and strategize growth.
- Ability to analyze trends and keep up with the ever-evolving marketplace to come up with the latest creative practice.
- Execute publishing strategies while ensuring all outputs are accurate across the website and social media channels, being punctual, original and in line with our scope of coverage.
- Have a strong network of local and global communities.
- Being able to uphold our editorial standards while meeting the creative needs of our brand partners.
- Ability and willingness to travel when required.
Requirements:
- 2 to 3 years of editorial and storytelling experience in a media, or in a digital/content advertising agency, or other similar experiences in a brand creative studio.
- Basic experience in Photoshop or other creative tools; Not a must, but good to have.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, design or other equivalent professional experiences.
- Passion for social media content creation is preferred, with creative and out of the box thinking, and a collaborative person who loves to work in a team.
- Ability to work independently and flexibility to work nights and weekends.
- Good command of English and the proficiency of other languages within the APAC region is a plus.
- The candidate is at the cutting-edge of the cultural zeitgeist, understanding internet, social and youth culture and how to credibly and sensitively work within in whilst maintaining brand integrity.
