As a Senior Software Engineer on Data Tools, you'll ensure we have excellent measurement tools and data pipelines. You will play a crucial role within the team, reporting directly to the Head of Data Platform. You will support Included Health's product analysts, product managers, and operational leaders by increasing the reliability of critical data pipelines and building easy to use analytics tools. This is a fully remote role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Build Data Tools: Develop scalable software tools for data analysis, visualization, and data access, including contributions to an in-house analytics layer.
- Empower Analysts: Create tools helping analysts model business objects and build funnels from complex data.
- Innovate with AI/LLM: Explore and build LLM-powered tools to make data insights accessible through natural language queries.
- Improve Data Processing: Implement and enhance real-time and batch data processing patterns for data tools.
- Improve Data Quality: Ensure that data lands on time, error free, and has monitoring in place to proactively identify problems.
- Collaborate: Partner with data analysts, product, and operations leaders to understand their needs and provide effective software solutions.
- Ensure Code Quality: Write maintainable code, participate in code reviews, document work, and apply best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of relevant professional experience in software engineering or full-stack data science.
- Strong proficiency in Python programming and SQL.
- Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD (CircleCI).
- Experience with software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience with batch and real-time data processing patterns and associated tools, like AWS Athena, Data Lakes, Kafka, and event frameworks.
- Experience building scalable, resilient, and observable distributed systems.
- History of partnering with less-technical colleagues to solve their problems using software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Go and/or Scala.
- Experience with A/B testing frameworks or methodologies.
- Experience building or maintaining data visualization tools (e.g., Superset, Looker).
- Experience developing tools powered by Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
$138,380 - $254,111 a year
The United States new hire base salary target ranges for this full-time position are:
Zone A: $138,380 - $195,470 + equity + benefits
Zone B: $159,137 - $224,791+ equity + benefits
Zone C: $172,975 - $244,338 + equity + benefits
Zone D: $179,894 - $254,111+ equity + benefits

Starting base salary for you will depend on several job-related factors, unique to each candidate, which may include education; training; skills; years and depth of experience; certifications and licensure; our needs; internal peer equity; organizational considerations; and understanding of geographic and market data. Compensation structures and ranges are tailored to each zone's unique market conditions to ensure that all employees receive fair and great compensation package based on their roles and locations.
