About Indico Data
Historically companies have had to choose between speed or accuracy in their intake decisions.  That’s a problem because the inability to quickly intake documents in any format and accurately make decisions, inhibits your growth and frustrates your customers.

Choose speed over accuracy and you risk making poor, inaccurate decisions which can increase your loss ratio and lead to noncompliance.  Choose accuracy overspeed and you risk losing out to more nimble competitors, frustrating your customers and missing out on new business entirely – this is the intake dilemma.

With Indico Data, you no longer have to choose.  Indico Data resolves these major intake issues for document-intensive industries by automating intake workflows for even the most unstructured document types, freeing experts from tedious, manual tasks, allowing them to deliver more business value.

With Indico Data, businesses can now:
- Automate the intake and processing of all documents
- Reduce the cycle time and cost of their intake process
- Increase customer satisfaction and profitability through better intake decisions

Indico is the intelligent intake solution automating critical middle office workflows across insurance, banking, real estate and healthcare driving better decisions with better data.

Overview
indico is a machine learning company turning unstructured text and image data into actionable insight. We are looking for a machine learning engineer to help us solve real world problems with the latest machine learning tech.

About the position
As machine learning engineer at indico, you will be responsible for building the core machine learning tech that enables our users to draw quantitative insight from text, image, and document data sources. You will continue to improve and iterate on our existing APIs, and help indico design algorithms that enable users to build custom models without requiring hundreds of thousands of labeled examples.

About you
You are an engineer first and foremost, a data scientist second.  You have experience working with the latest deep learning tech but always test simpler methods first and add complexity only as needed.  You have experience working with unstructured text and image data. You prioritize building generalizable models over squeezing out the last tenth of a percent relative error reduction on an academic dataset.  The words “big data” and “artificial general intelligence” make you cringe.  You iterate quickly and design tests to validate your hypotheses and build model intuition.

Responsibilities

    • Design text, image and document analysis algorithms to solve novel problems
    • Improve our existing machine learning algorithms to keep indico tech up to date with recent advances in academia
    • Design algorithms to enable users to build custom machine learning algorithms with small amounts of labeled training data
    • Implement models for extracting structured information from PDF and word documents.

Requirements

    • Experience with deep learning for analysis of unstructured text or image data
    • Python experience
    • Tensorflow / PyTorch Experience
    • ETL competency
    • Eagerness to grow as a data scientist and engineer

Bonus

    • Expertise in low data volume settings
    • Experience with transfer learning
    • Experience with web scraping or large scale data aggregation
    • Competent translating academic jargon into concrete software implementation
    • A habit reading arXiv like you read the morning news
    • Previous expertise working on data science problems in a team environment
    • Docker experience
    • Data visualization expertise
