The Opportunity

We are seeking a Research Operations Specialist to lead laboratory operations and facility safety for the InduPro Cambridge, MA site. This position is accountable for inventory management, lab organization, laboratory and office safety leadership, and instrument maintenance /IT security. We are seeking candidates who are self-motivated and able to work across the organization and with external consultants and vendors to drive success. Successful candidates will have a proven record of precise task management and the ability to manage multiple workflows in parallel. 

Key Responsibilities

    • Tracking, restocking, and reordering key laboratory services, reagents, and labware
    • Shipping & receiving support including meeting and directing freight deliveries and pick-ups
    • Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities
    • Successfully completed DOT Hazmat Training
    • Proactively monitoring proper disposal of hazardous waste streams
    • Ensuring lab compliance for all key safety regulations including maintenance of records
    • Attend regular, online Cambridge Biosafety Committee meetings
    • Maintenance and updating of chemical inventory
    • Enforcing laboratory safety policies
    • Accountable for routine lab equipment maintenance, including maintaining active service contracts and serving as point person for equipment maintenance issues with vendors
    • Planning and executing facility relocations as related to laboratory operations, including equipment moves, and required infrastructure to support existing and projected equipment needs
    • Performs other duties as assigned

Other Skills & Abilities

    • General knowledge of biology and scientific research methods is desirable
    • Strong critical thinking, evaluative, and problem-solving skills 

Education & Experience

    • B.S. with 2+ years of relevant experience in a lab setting
    • Research lab operations in a biological lab and office
    • Proven lab safety leadership
    • DOT Hazmat Training
    • MS Office productivity applications (Excel & PowerPoint) fluency
    • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is desirable

Physical Work Requirements

    • Prolonged periods standing, reaching and bending while working in the lab
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
$80,000 - $95,000 a year
The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000. The final salary will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
