The Accounts Payable Manager is a full-time position reporting directly to the Financial Controller.  This position plays a critical role within Insomnia Cookies Accounting and Financial Operations team by helping develop and maintain processes and best practices for an AP process that handles over 2,500 transactions per month.  The position will be responsible for managing all aspects of the accounts payable process, including managing vendor administration, processing of payments of properly approved and GL account coded obligations.  Additionally, this role will enhance the payables process and bring expertise to the function by driving operational excellence, continuous process improvement, change management, and the maintenance of proper controls and practices in a high-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Oversee payables to ensure timely and accurate processes and payments.  
    • Manage AP Accountants and AP Consultants.   
    • Manage the weekly and monthly close processes.
    • Reconcile the AP subledger to the control accounts monthly
    • Reconcile the 3rd party financing company’s statements to our GL
    • Administer the purchase card/T&E card program and the Insomniac expense reimbursement policy. 
    • Document key AP administrative processes and controls.
    • Pursue continuous process improvement opportunities as a demanding business partner.
    • Manage 1099 tax processing and reconciliation.
    • Assist with monthly cash reconciliation. 
    • Work closely with accounting team to help streamline financial close process. 
    • Assist the Controller with various ad hoc tasks as request.
    • Utilize leadership skills to build, maintain and promote positive working relationships within finance team and across various cross-functional areas of the Insomnia Cookies. Proactively escalate any business risks & opportunities.
    • Manage relationship with outsource providers.
    • Review and monitoring of aged invoices as well as assisting treasuring in forecasting cash requirements

    • Set goals for the AP team that are specific for department functionality and improvement, ensuring they are measurable, attainable and relevant to the entire organization

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or Business Administration required.
    • 5+ years of managing an Accounts Payable function
    • Experience with Concur preferred
    • Proficient with Microsoft office: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – ability to read, interpret and comprehend data 
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 
    • Drive for results - Must be proactive, high energy, results-oriented, and willing to drive change. Ability to meet deadlines under time constraints. Strong listening skills and attention to detail.
    • Command - Demonstrable ‘Managerial Courage’ & skilled at ‘Dealing with Ambiguity’.
    • Financial Controls - The knowledge and application of business processes, internal control concepts and practices to ensure transparency and governance of data and financial results at the appropriate level in the organization.

    • Experience leading, managing and motivating personnel
    • Provide direct supervision, motivate and train the accounts payable team by:
    • o Selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling and disciplining employees
