Position overview:
The selected Legal Intern will be responsible for applying their skills, education, and knowledge base to help the Insomnia Cookies Legal department move projects along and reach their goals.  This paid legal internship provides the unique opportunity to work directly with Insomnia’s in-house legal team and Chief Legal Officer.  The person in this role will be exposed to, and given an opportunity to participate in, all aspects of in-house legal work, ranging from commercial transactions and leasing to corporate governance, employment, and IP matters. The intern will collaborate with other employees, the Company’s leadership team, and outside counsel, and will help draft legal documents to both protect the Company from unnecessary risk and move the business forward, including non-disclosure agreements and other contracts and legal documents.  The person in this role will also research regulations affecting day-to-day business operations and will help maintain workflows for all legal requests.  Additional administrative responsibilities will be expected.

This internship is paid hourly at $20.00/hr, will require about 30-40 hours per week. This intern will work on-site based out of our Philadelphia Center City office for the duration of the 10 week program. .

Required Education and Experience

    • Must be enrolled in law school and currently pursuing a JD. Open to both 1L and 2L candidates.
    • Experience in Legal research and drafting & editing NDAs plus other commercial contracts.
    • Must be available to work up to 40 hours/week and to work on-site
    • Experience reviewing, revising, and negotiating NDAs and/or other commercial contracts is a plus.
    • Must possess an innate curiosity and desire to learn.
    • Must demonstrate strong organizational and project management skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills
    • Must be comfortable with Microsoft office products and remote meeting software (e.g. Slack, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
