As the Internal Communications and Community Relations Manager, you will orchestrate the voice of our brand both internally and externally. From building our internal communication channel strategy, to helping with exec comms, to designing internal communications for key company moments, you will help the company communicate more effectively. You will partner with leadership to help employees across the organization stay up to date on the company’s vision, goals, projects, by leading and executing strategic internal and executive communications programs. You will work across teams as a strategic communications partner to craft a strategy and messaging that successfully supports our mission.

In this position you will also create, support, and enhance community relations initiatives to improve how Instructure connects with business, industry, workforce, governmental and community partners. You will establish, nurture and maintain positive external relationships with individuals, businesses, and community-based organizations that support Instructure’s outreach efforts and overall mission.

This is a mid-level individual contributor role, reporting to the VP of Communications and Engagement. The successful candidate is a strategic thinker with a can-do attitude, exceptional verbal and interpersonal communication skills, and who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where no problem is too great and no detail too small.

This position is based out of our Salt Lake City, UT headquarters and will be required to work in the office on a regular basis.  Hybrid work is available to people living within a commutable distance to the office.

Here is what you will do:

    • Internal Communications
    • Coordinate employer of choice campaigns in conjunction with HR for Instructure’s global locations including SLC, London, Sydney, Budapest
    • Coordinate with HR, IT, and Finance on key employee communications
    • Ownership of content on and coordination of the company intranet
    • Company all-hands meetings (identifying both the content with our execs and coordinating the meeting and production)
    • Program lead for annual company kickoff meeting
    • Create and execute communications strategies across a matrixed organization.
    • Create engaging multimedia content to impactfully deliver key messages and drive the business forward.
    • Write and edit company-wide communications.
    • Consult with executives and others on best practices for employee communications and engagement.
    • Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages.
    • Handle the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organizational perception and reputation.

    • Community Relations
    • Lead development and oversee execution of the company’s community relations strategy. Ensure the corporate community strategy is consistent, reflects the organization’s strategic vision, and supports key business priorities.
    • Continuously evaluate community relations and CSR initiatives for optimization and performance.
    • Owner and lead on our Utah Jazz “Most Valuable Educator” partnership
    • Owner of our relationship with Silicon Slopes and corporate sponsorships
    • Working with HR to drive our local Utah employer of choice campaign
    • Maintain calendar of all the culturally celebrated days (Black History Month, Pride, Women’s History, etc.) and coordinate company plans and involvement from a comms standpoint for these in advance to keep ahead
    • Coordinate with Diversity-Inclusion-Belonging (DIB) committee and HR leadership on specific initiatives the company wants to support

Here is what you'll need to have:

    • 5+ years of professional experience in communications or public relations
    • 3+ years of community engagement or CSR programming
    • Knowledgeable in community-outreach programs and philanthropic efforts in support of a company or foundation’s mission or strategy
    • Ability to lead projects involving cross-functional subject matter experts and executive leadership.
    • Works collaboratively with the ability to build trust and relationships across the organization.
    • Able to learn new skills quickly and adjust in a constantly changing communications environment.
    • Experience working with highly confidential information.
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Highly skilled in written and verbal communications, strong storyteller.
    • Excellent editor and proofreader.
    • Creative thinker with the ability to develop ideas into executable plans.
    • Demonstrated ability to maneuver through a complex matrixed organization, leading with influence and expertise.
    • Shows initiative and ability to manage time, prioritize multiple tasks and quickly produce results under tight deadlines.
Final salary is subject to location and experience.
