About You:
We are looking for a seasoned COO who shares our passion for disrupting the traditional housing and construction industry. As our COO, you will have the unique opportunity to work in an innovative environment where you can make a real impact and play a critical role in shaping the operations of our company as we expand to multiple markets and manufacturing locations. 
 
You have a high level of experience in the scale up of complex manufacturing environments that require constant innovation and process engineering to maximize the efficiency and output of large-scale commercial products. Perhaps you know the wood product manufacturing industry or building construction industries, although we are open to having you explain how your experience in other manufacturing industries can have direct relevance to our requirements.

The Role:
As a fundamental partner to our founding CEO, you'll be responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the business. You will provide executive oversight of all internal operations of the company, including manufacturing operations, scaling operations to emerging markets, contract management, facilities management, inventory management, quality assurance, project execution and quality control, health and safety, and intellectual property protection. 
 
Your strong change management experience will be critical in challenging the status quo and driving innovation and collaboration across multiple aspects of the business.  You'll work closely with our multidisciplinary team, providing leadership and guidance to our various operations teams as we continue to grow and scale, guiding company expansion into new marketplaces. You will know how to establish appropriate KPIs and OKRs, measure the organization’s performance against them, and push for continuous improvement.  
 
As a seasoned senior executive, you will contribute to the Company’s strategic direction along with the CEO, CTO, , CFO and CCO, and other senior managers. You will plan and manage annual operating budgets to enable the achievement of strategic goals within the established parameters. You will utilize the latest technological tools and methods to enable data analysis and forecasting that ground the company’s strategy and ensure we remain ahead of industry trends and developments. 
 
 

Qualification:
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in manufacturing operations or scaling operations in emerging markets.
 
 
Location:
This position is based in Vancouver, BC. Candidates from out of province are welcome to apply but should be willing to relocate.
 
 
Compensation Package:
In return for your contribution, we offer a compensation package that includes base salary, benefits, paid time off, and stock options.   The base salary range for this role will be between $175,000 to $280,000. A discussion about base salary will begin during the first introductory call.
 
Candidates applying should expect stock options to comprise an element of the total compensation package. You'll have a direct stake in our success, with the potential for significant financial rewards as we continue to grow and disrupt our industry. 

Responsibilities - Executive Leadership:

    • Offer strategic contributions and feedback to the CEO and other executive management team members to create an agile business.
    • Successfully scale-up the first of our BC-based manufacturing operations and lead the expansion toward a second facility in Ontario.
    • Lead the Manufacturing, Project Execution, and People domains.
    • Make tactical decisions, consider options, anticipate outcomes, and proactively advance operational objectives. 
    • Work collaboratively with a highly driven team to keep moving our company into an era of IoT and Industry 4.0. 
    • Relentlessly drives down complexity both in operations and manufacturing processes. 
    • Provide operational leadership and excellence for a rapidly expanding company across several locations in Canada, the US, and beyond. 
    • Actively participate in the creation of strong supply chains and industry partnerships.
    • Identify business opportunities, developing and implementing growth strategies. 
    • Foster and encourage an agile approach towards fast innovation and technological leadership. 
    • Develop ESG strategies and programs.  
    • Ensure internal controls and policy compliance are robust. 
    • Ensure the safeguarding of assets and protection of Intellectual Property. 
    • Communicate and motivate your direct reports and clearly explain expectations and responsibilities. 
    • Empower, inspire, and hold individuals accountable to achieve objectives.  
    • Support the CEO, CFO, and Board of Directors in discussions and negotiations with funding partners for loans, venture investment, and government grants.  
    • Advise the executive leadership team and Board of Directors on operations related long-term business issues. 
    • Understand and evaluate operational and associated financial risks and identify how to avoid or minimize their impact. 
    • Collaborate with the Finance team on forecasts and budgets.  
    • Lead or assist with applications for government grants. 
    • Administer the company stock option plan. 
    • Co-lead the annual audit process.  
    • Plan and execute the AGM process.
