Location & Team Gatherings
Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016. We’ve been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office – we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.
We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.
About This Role
As part of Intersect’s Engineering team, you’ll oversee the technical design of utility-scale wind farms from feasibility through commissioning. You’ll guide due diligence, site design, equipment integration, and design optimization working closely with turbine suppliers, EPC contractors, owners engineers, and consultants. You’ll also manage the engineering deliverables that tie directly to contracts, budgets, and schedules, ensuring projects are technically sound, cost-optimized, and on track. This role will collaborate across Development, Resource Assessment, Procurement, Construction, Operations, and Finance to deliver projects that perform reliably and accelerate Intersect’s clean energy mission.
Team Overview
The Engineering team ensures Intersect’s renewable projects are technically sound, cost-optimized, and built for long-term reliability. We develop standards, review designs, and coordinate across functions to bring complex clean energy facilities online at scale. By bridging technical expertise with project execution, we help Intersect accelerate deployment while meeting the highest safety, quality, and performance standards. Joining this team means shaping the backbone of our renewable infrastructure and driving the interconnection of next-generation energy projects.
What You’ll Do
Advance Wind Project Design
• Coordinate due diligence, feasibility studies, permitting designs, and detailed design deliverables for wind farms
• Manage site layouts, including turbine placement, access roads, and electrical collection systems, integrating inputs from Development Engineering and Resource Assessment teams
• Optimize designs in collaboration with turbine suppliers, EPC contractors, owners engineers, and consultants
Manage Contracts & Budgets
• Lead technical scope and deliverable management within EPC and TSA contracts, ensuring alignment with design and schedule requirements
• Manage budgets and deliverables tied to wind project design across the project lifecycle
• Support EPC and TSA negotiations, with a focus on mitigating design-related risks and costs
Integrate Technical Inputs
• Facilitate documentation flow from equipment suppliers, local jurisdictions, and operations into project design
• Evaluate turbine technology options, power curves, operational modes, and curtailment strategies to maximize performance
• Support grid compliance and substation design considerations, coordinating closely with electrical engineering experts
Support Construction & Commissioning
• Provide subject matter expertise during construction and commissioning, reviewing drawings, reports, and test results
• Conduct site visits to evaluate locations for wind measurement devices and other site-specific design requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues quickly and effectively
What You’ll Bring
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related field
• 6+ years of experience in the renewable energy industry, including at least 2+ years with direct wind engineering responsibilities
• Knowledge of wind farm design, construction, and turbine systems
• Understanding of grid connection and electrical substation design principles
• Experience supporting or leading EPC, TSA, and owner’s engineering contract negotiations
• Ability to manage deliverables across multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Familiarity with tools such as Openwind, Windographer, Global Mapper, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, reports, and studies with the ability to translate risks and opportunities into schedule or capex impacts
• Comfort with project economics, including NPV, IRR, and LCOE analysis
