About This Role
As part of Intersect’s East Development team, you’ll take ownership of project budgets, schedules, and economics while guiding projects through the full development cycle. You’ll manage cross-functional workstreams partnering with subject matter experts in land, interconnection, finance, origination, and engineering to ensure projects maintain value and stay on track. Your work will include greenfield land campaigns, investment and offtake coordination, financial modeling, and key transaction support. This role combines strategic insight with detailed execution, giving you direct impact on the success of renewable projects in ERCOT and SPP.
Team Overview
The East Development team of ~14 people rolls into the Head of East Development and drives projects primarily in ERCOT and SPP. Our portfolio spans solar (PV), storage (BESS), wind, and load, covering the full development cycle from early-stage strategy to the start of construction. The team’s core focus is on project management maintaining schedule, budget, and economic value while working hand-in-hand with internal experts across all major functions. Joining this team means contributing to the advancement of diverse clean energy projects and developing expertise in multiple technologies and markets.
What You’ll Do
Guide Project Economics & Strategy
• Maintain ownership of project budgets, schedules, and economics throughout the development cycle
• Build and refine financial models to evaluate risks, opportunities, and transactions
• Structure analyses and presentations for senior management and capital deployment committees
Lead Development in SPP & ERCOT
• Direct greenfield land campaign strategy in SPP, working closely with Land Acquisition
• Manage interconnection study processes, timelines, and utility relationships
• Assess transmission service availability, basis, and curtailment impacts
Manage Partnerships & Transactions
• Coordinate with Origination & Trading and Business Development on pricing, investment, and offtake relationships
• Lead counterparty relationships and contract negotiations with utilities, tax consultants, land agents, and attorneys
• Support investment decisions by preparing clear, data-backed recommendations
Strengthen Development Tools & Processes
• Manage interdisciplinary project teams across wind, solar, and load projects
• Improve development workflows, reporting, and standard operating procedures
• Deliver concise project reports and recommendations for executive-level decision-making
What You’ll Bring
• A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of renewable project development, project finance, or acquisition experience
• Expertise in financial modeling with Excel or other advanced modeling tools
• Strong communication, organization, and relationship management skills
• Experience with finance, power marketing, or interconnection processes is preferred
• MBA a plus, but not required
• A proactive, detail-oriented approach with the ability to balance strategy and execution in a fast-moving environment
